What’s the best time of year to take a vacation in Maui?

The best time to visit Maui depends on your travel preferences. If you’re looking for warm weather and sunny days, the summer months are a great option. However, if you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy lower prices, the shoulder seasons of spring and fall can be a good choice. Winter is also a great time to visit.

What type of vacation rentals can I expect to find in Maui?

You’ll find a wide variety of vacation rentals in Maui, from luxury condos to budget-friendly apartments. There are also a number of vacation rental companies that offer special deals and discounts.

Where are the best places to stay in Maui?

The best place to stay in Maui depends on your travel preferences. If you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation, the West Side of the island is a great option. For travelers who want to be close to the action, Kihei and Lahaina are both good choices.

What’s the best way to travel around Maui?

Wondering how to get around Maui? The island has a number of transportation options, including public buses, taxis, and rental cars. You can also arrange for a private shuttle or ride-sharing service.

What are the 10 best things to see and do in Maui?

If you are wondering what the must-sees are during your Maui vacation, then check out our top 10 list of things to see and do on the island!

Drive the Road to Hana

Allow 2 days as a minimum amount of time required to drive the Road to Hana. While it may be tempting to try and complete the journey in one day, it’s not advised as you’ll likely miss out on some of the amazing scenery and attractions along the way. Start your journey early in the morning so that you can take your time and stop at the various sights you’ll come across on the Road to Hana.

Visit Haleakala National Park

Maui is home to many amazing natural wonders, and one of the most popular attractions is Haleakala National Park. This 10,023-foot tall volcano is one of the most iconic landmarks on the island, and it’s a must-see for any Maui vacationer. Here are three reasons why you should make sure to visit Haleakala National Park on your trip:

  • The views from the summit are incredible.
  • There’s a wide variety of hiking trails for all levels.
  • You can see some amazing wildlife up close.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience on your Maui vacation, make sure to add Haleakala National Park to your itinerary!

Hit Maui’s world famous beaches

Beaches you cannot miss while on Maui…

Kaanapali Beach

This is one of Maui’s most famous beaches, and for good reason. The sparkling white sand and clear blue waters are simply breathtaking. Plus, there’s plenty to do in the area. You can go snorkeling, paddleboarding, or just relax on the sandy shore.

Black Rock Beach

This beach is located in Lahaina and is a great spot for snorkeling. The dramatic black rocks create a natural barrier that protects the area from strong currents, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Plus, the views of the nearby coastline are simply stunning.

The best beaches for surfing on Maui

The best beaches for surfing on Maui are at Hookipa Beach Park and Paia Bay.

Both of these beaches have great waves for beginners and advanced surfers alike. If you’re looking to catch some big waves, head to Hookipa Beach Park. This beach is also great for bodysurfing.

If you’re looking for a more mellow surfing experience, check out Paia Bay. This beach is known for its long, gentle waves.

Both of these beaches are also great for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking. So whether you’re looking to catch some waves or just relax on the sand, Maui has the perfect beach for you.

Watch the sunrise from Haleakala, Maui’s tallest volcano.

For sunrise trips, leave no later than 3:30 AM. It takes one hour to reach the summit when leaving from Kahului, 1-1.5 hours from Kihei, and 2 hours from Lahaina. The very latest we’d suggest entering the park in the morning is 4:30 AM.

The National Park Service requires a reservation for visitors in personal and rental vehicles to enter the Summit District from 3:00 am to 7:00 am to view the sunrise. The one-day $1.50 sunrise reservation can be made up to 60 days in advance. The park entrance fee is separate and payable on the day of visit.

If you don’t want to drive up yourself, there are plenty of tours that will take you.

Go on a whale watching tour

Early morning is the ideal times to go whale watching as the sun is not too high in the sky and the water is calm.

The best months for whale watching on Maui are December through April when the Humpback whales come to Maui to mate and give birth.

Visit the Maui Ocean Center

Since Maui Ocean Center opened in 1998, they have worked to protect Hawai‘i’s remarkable marine life. The center offers unparalleled encounters with amazing oceanic creatures, some of which exist only here in Hawai‘i. They care for one of the world’s largest collections of live Pacific corals. The exhibits and educational programs are designed to inspire Hawai‘i residents and visitors with fresh appreciation for the surrounding sea and local culture.

Take a helicopter tour of Maui

Book a helicopter tour of Maui in advance. Many visitors to Maui choose to see the island from above by booking a helicopter tour. This is an especially popular activity for those who are short on time, as it offers a bird’s eye view of all the major attractions.

Helicopter tours typically last between 30 and 60 minutes, and prices vary depending on the company you choose and the package you select.

If you’re interested in booking a helicopter tour of Maui, we recommend doing some research in advance to find the best deal. You can also ask your hotel concierge or vacation rental manager for recommendations.

Golf at one of Maui’s championship golf courses

Maui is home to some of the best golf courses in Hawaii. If you’re looking for a challenge, try playing at one of the championship courses. Maui’s most popular golf course is the Kapalua Bay Course, which was rated the “#1 Golf Course in Hawaii” by Golf Digest.

Explore Lahaina and Front Street

Walking down Front Street is a must-do when visiting Lahaina. This historic street is lined with shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Be sure to stop in at the Banyan Tree, one of the world’s largest trees, which is located in the middle of Front Street.

Visit the Maui Arts & Cultural Center

The perfect place to visit for any art lover, the Maui Arts & Cultural Center hosts various exhibitions and performances throughout the year. The center is also home to a cafe, gift shop, and an outdoor sculpture garden.
