Huge 1906 Victorian Upon the Hill in Housatonic
Built in 1906, our spacious 2,500 square foot home has an eclectic contemporary vibe while retaining many charming period details. Walking distance from the village center, several restaurants, a park, the rail trial, and access to Monument Mountain Hiking Trails. Our home is perfect for both work-from-home and vacationing. Off the foyer is a beautifully decorated living room with flat screen tv (Spectrum and Netflix) and a wood burning fireplace, stocked with games, art books, and fiction. The eat-in kitchen is supplied with everything from new stainless appliances to smaller luxuries like a stand mixer, burr grinder, and instant pot. Off the kitchen is a half bathroom. The dining room seats 8 comfortably. Upstairs are 5 bedrooms. On the northeast side of the house, a queen bedroom with a large desk and flat screen monitor shares a juliette bathroom, containing a walk-in shower, with a twin bedroom. The other three bedrooms, one of which is set up as an office but contains a small twin convertible couch, share a larger bathroom with an original claw foot soaking tub. This bathroom has a new stacking high-efficiency washer and drier. The gracious front porch is a three-season destination for coffee in the mornings and cocktails at 5 p.m. The large sloping back yard has a hammock and small picnic table as well as fire-pit, perfect for s'mores. At one time, our house was a two-family. The southwest corner of the house, a 15 x 20 room, is home to my former ceramics studio. This space, accessible through upstairs hallway, remains unlocked as an emergency exit, however is off limits to use by guests. I am available by text 8am-10 pm to answer any questions. I have a house manager who lives nearby and is available as needed. Housatonic, a former Mill town, is now an eclectic hamlet with a cool and undiscovered vibe. Our home was built in 1906 by one of the Mill owners for his daughter. The village is home to both long-time residents and many new young families, a recently updated park (which in summer boasts free childcare sponsored by Great Barrington Community Center), a small basketball court, community grill, and all-weather cardio equipment. We have 2 well established restaurants and a third "Coming Soon."
