We are centrally and conveniently located to all Maui attractions, much closer to town and the airport than other places in Makawao, Haiku, Olinda or Kula, and an hour closer to Hana, but all of this with a million dollar view to die for and the rural vibe of being in the country. Our property overlooks endless acres of former sugarcane fields on the slopes of majestic Haleakala down to the Pacific Ocean on Maui’s North Shore. The Studio is located just 15-20 minutes or less from the airport, 10 minutes to historic Makawao town and 10-12 minutes to historic Paia town, 25 minutes to Kihei/Wailea, South Shore, 30-45 minutes to Lahaina/Kaanapali, depending on traffic. At one thousand feet elevation the weather is near perfect, cool nights in the low 70's or less in winter months and mostly breezy trade winds during the day. The studio is very peaceful and quiet. Enjoy the view while lounging in the handmade Mayan hammock on your own private lanai. Our clean and comfortable studio is nicely appointed, comfy sofa, 55" Flat Screen Smart Samsung LED TV and Free super fast Hi Speed Wi-fi of 200 MBP or more bandwidth. The bathroom has a window (frosted) and is equipped with a shower, toilet, pedestal sink, hair dryer, small first aid kit, TP, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner & body wash. **Please Note: Sanitary bags are provided to dispose of any foreign objects. The macerating toilet will stop working if you put foreign objects in it. If you accidently flush a foreign object, please notify us immediately. LUXURIOUS BEDDING AND KING SIZE BED Nothing like a good sleep so you have all the energy you need to explore Maui. For your comfort our Luxury Cal-King memory foam Bedding has high quality linens, and blankets, King size Down pillows, 100 % cotton Mattress pad. No cheesy cheap polyester bedding here, or too small of a bed.... enjoy bedding and linens found in 4 and 5 star hotels. The unit has a refrigerator, range. microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and air conditioning, although it is rarely needed. Our home is in a perfect location for anyone visiting Maui, whether you want to sightsee, hike, bike, golf, kite or wind surf, attend a conference/convention or get away to a quiet place. Enjoy a slice of local life away and different from the standard tourist fare of condos and crowds and strip shopping centers. Our property is a sanctuary of laid back chill and peaceful quiet - privacy is the rule at the Sugar Shack. Our location looks over thousands of acres of former sugarcane fields and is only 6 miles to the ocean as the crow flies and is perfect for all water sports enthusiasts - Kite Sailors, Windsurfers, SUP, Foilers, Cyclists, Hikers.....you name it... . Only 10-15 minutes to the best windsurfing and kite sailing on the planet...With binoculars you can check the conditions for sailing or surfing and see the windsurfers and kite sailors at Kite Beach and Kanaha Beach. The unit has it's own outdoor hammock and chairs for enjoying fresh air and views on the wood deck. Please use the outdoor shower (yes, there is one inside too) to remove sand prior to entering the studio. Your kokua is appreciated. Enjoy grilling a steak, burger or fish with the gas grill on the Lanai. Hair dryer, beach towels and chairs and a cooler are provided for your convenience. There is a Public Transportation Bus Stop within walking distance, about 1/4 mile walk to the entrance to the neighborhood. Please let us if you need to use the washer/dryer. Please use the 29 minute cycle. Feel free to use the clothes line and/or the dryer. Please ask for instructions if there is any question on usage. We live on site and enjoy meeting new people and we strive to accommodate your needs. Your complete satisfaction is our goal. Note: we are on the edge of Maui's cane fields and nature, you may see a cane spider or other insects, do know they are harmless. Keep in mind we are in the tropics, so you may see an occasional uninvited “guest”... Aloha...Lala Note: Non-permitted illegal vacation rentals is a topic of intense and emotional discussion locally, many people are opposed to illegal rentals on Maui for obvious reasons; it’s against the law and it’s unfair to those that play by the rules. With a relatively small number of permitted BnB rentals allowed, there are many rentals that are literally Breaking The Law. It's difficult and costly to obtain a permit. A permitted property assures you that the unit complies with all building codes and safety standards, and passed inspections by county officials. Those that do not, are skirting taxes and the law and have an unfair advantage offering cheaper prices. Maui County is aggressively enforcing and shutting down illegal non-permitted BnB rentals. Please do not support these unethical illegal vacation rentals, it could jeopardize your vacation. All too often someone posts on social media that they are in a jam with no place to go because their vacation rental was abruptly cancelled after being shut down by county inspectors. Our Studio is nestled in the back of an old local neighborhood and is both private and very quiet. There are children at play in the area, so we humbly ask that you respect common etiquette such as driving slow through the neighborhood - 15 MPH or less, and keeping the noise down. Quiet hours are 9:00 p.m. to 8 a.m... The world famous Hali'imaile General Store Restaurant, Makai Glassblowing and Glass Gallery, and Hali'imaile Distillery Tour & Tasting Room are within 1/4 mile. There is a Public Transportation Bus Stop within walking distance, about 1/4 mile walk to the entrance to the neighborhood. Check In is 4pm, we will accommodate early check in when available, so feel free to check with us. As we use a professional cleaning service, Check out must be no later than 10 am. A late check out fee of $100 would apply if the cleaners show up and guests are still in the unit.
