(formerly "The Nest") Spacious enough for a small family, cozy enough for a couple, a perfect alternative to a hotel, for exploring New England, or holing up to finish that book (reading or writing). TFL is a welcoming above the garage in-law suite with a private entrance, full kitchen, full bath, laundry room, and touches that will make your stay comfortable, unique and memorable. The location is right at the foot the hiking trails of Mt. Tom, a 20 min walk to idyllic downtown Easthampton. An ideal setting for year round adventuring. Fog creeps down the mountain, enclosing the property in soupy mists. Hawks circle the air as song birds sing in the day. Then the clouds break and light pours over the glistening grounds and through windows on every side. Maybe you can hear music from the town below, or the singing of the coyote's returning to the mountain from their night hunts. Spend the day on your bike, or in your hiking boots, snow shoes, or cuddled with a book and a strong cup of coffee... you have arrived at the Eagle's Nest at Fogwood, a private suite in the carriage house of this stunning mountainside estate. Situated on the foot of Mt. Tom you are literally steps from the best hiking in New England. Just walk out the back yard and you're on the trail. Fall foliage could not be better and if you're a fan of winter hiking, you can not beat the ease and access, put on your boots, hit the trail and then return to a warm cozy mountain hideaway - no need to even think about your car. The bed is a heavenly queen canopy. Draw the curtains and revel in the magical morning light, or keep them open and wake with the birds as the mountain comes to life just past the big picture window. The kitchen is big, with a full-sized fridge, table for 6, oven, microwave, Kurig, Areopress and French press coffee makers, granite countertops and everything you'll need to prepare meals at home. The living room is fitted with a home theater system for cozy nights watching a movie. Just a heads up this is an SD projector with surround sound, ideal for evening movies and show binges but not the best for day time TV watching. There is Netflix as well as blu-ray and DVD. You'll have access to a huge movie collection (with plenty of choices for kids) as well as a gigantic library of books. A storage closest has been converted into "the cuddle corner" a tiny room tricked out with a twin mattress heaped with plush comforts and its own TV and VCR: the perfect place for snuggling up to watch an old movie or for a small but unforgettable second bedroom. Another small closet has been converted into a media vault, loaded with VHS gems. The full laundry room has a washer and dryer, a dart board and a full size futon. The laundry room doors close so the room can provide a third private sleeping area. A large walk in closet offers enough space for all your clothes and travel items. A private section of the yard is set side for you, a table and chairs, a grassy veranda and a massive stone formation that will capture your imagination. Looking for a truly unique romantic week away, a base of operations for a biking or hiking trip, seclusion from the bustle of the city, a launch point for a antiquing adventure... You might find another property with some of the same amenities, but you’ll be hard pressed to find one with all this gorgeous space has to offer. The suite is the entire top floor of the Carriage House. It is an open floor plan with a bedroom and connected living room, sitting area, large kitchen/dining area, bathroom, laundry room, "cuddle corner" and a giant walk-in closet. It's technically an open floor plan studio, but a converted walk in closet and laundry room create 2 additional private sleeping rooms. The suite is not connected to the main house, so your stay will be completely private with a private entrance, self check-in and parking spot. The windows between the carriage house and main house are fogged for extra seclusion. There is a large, private section of the yard reserved for your use, with a table perfect for outside dining, a nice secluded spot to view the sunsets in privacy. I make my best effort to respond to all questions and requests, but am not 100% available at all times. Privacy and peace are part of the draw of this location and space. Welcome to Whoville, the town that inspired Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Nestled at the base of Mt. Tom, Easthampton is a truly picturesque New England mill town. Old factories have been converted to art spaces, breweries, and vintage stores. Several top not restaurants bars and galleries fill downtown with eclectic life, art and music (and the beast ice cream in Massachusetts). The Manhan bike trail takes you by old factories, farm land, nature preserves and breweries. The trail connects to Northampton, Florence and Amherst, all via a safe off road paved trail dedicated to bikers and walkers. Centrally located in the Pioneer Valley, Easthampton is a great launch point for day trips throughout Western MA, Upstate New York and greater New England. Located at the very end of the street, the house is the last property before the Mt. Tom state park. Only a few steps takes you into some of New England's best hiking. Downtown Easthampton is only a 20 minute walk (5 min drive). The bike trail is a 10 minute bike ride away, 14 miles of off the road converted rail trails which connects you to Northampton, Florence, Hadley and other local towns. A perfect location for graduation, vacation, or base of operations for day trips, hiking, biking. Full living amenities make it ideal for work travelers or anyone visiting one of the local campuses. Close enough to everything while still offering amazing privacy surrounded by nature. Drive times to the colleges: Smith - 10 min Amherst - 20min UMass - 20min Mt. Holyoke - 20min Hampshire - 20min Self check-in for flexible arrival and departure The sky is amazing at night. Children of all ages have stayed and played in that space, but it is not formally toddler-proffed.
