The Carriage House at Walnut Pond
Description
Charming carriage house on very private 8 acres overlooking Walnut Pond. The long driveway takes you past our vegetable/herb garden, a log cabin build in 1789 and across Little Nishisakawick Creek. The carriage house is bright & cozy with lovely views & private patio - great for nature watching. We live in the adjacent converted barn. 3 miles from historic Frenchtown on the Delaware River, close to Bucks County with a great variety of restaurants, miles of towpath & old river towns to explore. The space The Carriage House is a self-contained cottage with two bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen sized bed and the other with 2 twin beds. Very luxurious bedding with Siberian goose down comforters in the winter. Taller folk need to watch out for the low, sloping ceiling at the top of the stairs so as not to bump your head! Downstairs is the living room with gas fired pot-belly stove, full size futon sofa, armchair and desk. There is a door to the newer bathroom. The open plan leads to the fully equipped kitchen/diner with gas stove, new fridge, new dishwasher, new microwave, drip filter coffee maker etc. Washer & dryer in the laundry room. The kitchen opens out onto the patio overlooking the pond. There is a picnic table for 4 covered by a grape arbor, party lights &, in the summer, a busy hummingbird feeder ... Fall asleep to the sound of the artesian well spring flowing into the pond. There is a signed parking space for 2 cars outside the front door. Guest access The Carriage House is set in a hollow on 8 private acres. Guests have access to the spring-fed Walnut Pond, long stretches of Little Nishisackawick Creek, with bridges across to the small camping area with fire pit, vegetable and flower gardens, and chicken coop. Other things to note The Carriage House is quiet & rural. This is the countryside with an enormous variety of wildlife to observe, the good, the bad & the ugly! There are plenty of uneven surfaces, and water features, so young children should be accompanied outside at all times.
