Cheery home at the base of Mt Jumbo
Cheery home at the base of Mt Jumbo
Description
Tucked into a lovely neighborhood between the base of Mt. Jumbo and the gin-clear rattlesnake creek, this two bedroom house has easy access to multiple hiking trails, parks, playgrounds, and wilderness, as well as Missoula’s vibrant little downtown, the University, Washington Stadium, and several music venues. Just far enough off the highway for a little peace and quiet while still being a straight shot back to I-90 in case you're just passing through. The space The front yard is all parking but you’ll have a private deck out back that looks over the fully fenced back yard. The lawn is a shared space for people and pets and we’ve got a pooper scooper and a waste bucket in the corner for dog poo, and frequently have dog toys and sticks out in the grass for dogs to play with. I live in the daylight basement below with my husband Garrett and our dog Kaya (both of who will want to meet you and your dogs if you have them). We park on the right hand side of the driveway and use the porch stairs to access our separate entrance in the lower unit. Guest access The LEFT side of the driveway is for guests, and there is room to easily park two full size vehicles in line with each other (and a standard electric outlet for topping off hybrids or EV’s overnight). The driveway is not particularly difficult, but it’s also not the easiest driveway — slightly narrow, a quick turn off the main road and runs parallel to the road. Fortunately there is also overflow parking directly on the other side of the street in the gravel pullout if you have more vehicles or a truck and trailer. There are two steps to get from the driveway into the house at either door. If you have accessibility needs please message us ahead of time to make sure we’re around to set up ramps. The doors are standard 36” width. Other things to note We want to set expectations correctly though, so here’s a few things we want to warn you about. - The house is on the through street used by the rest of the neighborhood above us, so road noise is a regular occurrence. - Despite being in a 25mph zone, many people drive faster, and our driveway is right alongside the road, so please please be careful with your dogs when going between the house and your vehicles. - We have window A/C units in both bedrooms which keep the rooms nice and cool but inevitably makes the noise sealing a bit worse. Especially the bedroom on the front of the house, if you do not have the fan running, people sensitive to noise will notice the sound of the vehicles going by. With the AC unit operating it’s hard to notice the car noise. -On the hottest weeks of the year, you have to be vigilant about keeping the doors and windows shut for the AC units to keep up with the temps. - The driveway entry and exit can be challenging, as mentioned in many other sections. That said, the parking area and turnaround area are both large enough to accommodate full sized trucks. Thanks for reading, I hope you find the perfect place to stay, whether here or elsewhere!
