Spacious 1850s rustic meets modern walkout studio
Spacious 1850s rustic meets modern walkout studio
Description
Located on 1.6 acres, just a 6 minute drive from Vineyard Haven town center, this lovely post and beam walk out basement apartment is the perfect home base to explore the island. Although the home was built in 2000 and has all the modern amenities you could hope for, its structure, reclaimed from a Connecticut dairy barn built in 1852 brings old world charm to this stunning space. Please note that our family of 5 lives upstairs so there is potential for noise. The space The walk out basement studio has a padlocked private entrance, full kitchen with electric stove, a working fire place, private bath and one king size bed. The guest can park on the front of the house in the common parking area, all the way to the right facing the house. A light breakfast is available in the kitchen space: fresh fruits, cereal, milk, coffee and tea. Please note that the woodwork is old (1852) so there is potential for allergens in the air. Guest access To access the studio entrance, park in the main parking area to the right side against the fence and walk through the first gate on the right. Walk down on the right of the house to the rear, there will be a second gate on your left to enter the secondary fenced-in garden. There are a lot of deer in the area and they love to eat our tomatoes, fruit trees and hostas so please make sure the gates are closed. The guests have the use of the whole apartment and the patio outside the sliding door for outdoor eating and lounging. During your stay Guests are encouraged to self check-in and get all the privacy they desire. Our family of 5 lives in the house upstairs and is always available to answer questions or assist in any way we can. We do not accept reservations for other people (friends or other members of your family). The guests must make the reservation themselves as we rely on reviews to accept of deny guests. Other things to note WE HAVE CHILDREN LIVING UPSTAIRS! Did I mention we have children? a 10 year old boy and 5 year old twins and live right above so there is a potential for noise early in the morning (6:30 am) during dinner time at night (5-6 pm). Please note that there is a sound machine on the bedside table for those who enjoy sleeping with the rolling sound of waves. It’s very relaxing and very effective to cover sound. The island gets VERY busy in the summer, make sure you figure out your car ferry reservation before finalizing your stay. Please be aware that this a rural wooded area so there might be the occasional spider, millipedes or wood roach in the apartment. This has nothing to do with the cleanliness of the place, they are simply endemic to the area. Also please note that the woodwork is old (1852) so there is potential for allergens in the air. A light breakfast is available in the kitchen space: fresh fruits, cereal, milk, coffee and tea, granola bars.
