Description

Hike, bike, fish, snowshoe, or just relax in our cozy, solar powered homestead on the base of Mount Haggin. Enjoy ultimate privacy & seclusion from being tucked a few miles off the highway while only being 20 mins from town. Explore our wooded 20+ acres with backyard trails to our rushing creek and our scenic rock bluff. Enjoy truly breathtaking views from the front porch and living room. Moose, foxes, bears, and snowshoe hares are known to visit our property, so don't forget your binoculars! The space PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING ☺️ We are at an elevation of 6,300 feet, and completely off-grid, meaning we rely entirely on solar power and propane generators.  With this, we ask you to be conscientious of your electricity usage. Our house functions very similarly to an ordinary "on-grid" house, so it can be easy to forget you're off grid.  What this means for you is that we ask you to please turn off the lights/electronics when you are finished, to only run appliances during the daylight hours, and to try to charge devices during the day as well. It helps our batteries and system tremendously. We are nestled back off the road up a long and fairly steep driveway for ultimate privacy. The living area of the house sits on top of the garage, so you will need to climb one flight of stairs to enter the living area. It has 2 spacious bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a full size kitchen, and a living room with large windows and a gas fireplace..perfect for that evening glass of wine. Please remember you are in rural Montana and put safety first. This area does have mountain lions, bears, elk, moose, foxes, and wolves. Please keep your distance from them and be prepared in case of an encounter. We recommend keeping bear spray with you, and keeping your dogs nearby. We have the best internet available (thank you, SpaceX) in our remote location, but please remember where you are, and be patient if the connection drops intermittently. That said, we have been incredibly pleased with the speed and reliability with our Starlink internet. It is great for those working from home and and needing to be in zoom calls. Let me know if you have any other internet specific questions before booking. Let us know if there is anything you're looking for, and we can give you recommendations! We are avid mountain bikers, trail runners, backpackers, and will be happy to talk all things trail with you. IMPORTANT ROAD INFO: You do NOT need a high clearance vehicle, but we don’t recommend towing a trailer up the driveway unless you have a powerful truck. (We have successfully towed many things up the hill, but it is steep and there are a couple sharp turns). We have a pickup truck and Subaru, which handle the road and driveway just fine. In winter weather months, November - April, we strongly recommend a four wheel drive vehicle with chains or traction tires to handle the road and driveway. Our road is privately maintained so it does not get plowed immediately after a snowfall. If you don’t have “the best vehicle” for snowy, dirt roads, just message me and we can discuss shuttling you up from the parking area at the base of the hill. If you have any other questions about our road, feel to message us :) If beautiful views, tranquility, adventure, comfort, and wilderness are more important to you than a walkable, trendy home, we would love to have you stay with us! Other things to note We live off a privately maintained, dirt road. You don’t need a high clearance vehicle - there are no big rocks or ruts, but the road is washboarded. We have a truck and Subaru. Both do well on the road. Because the road is maintained by those of us who live here, please drive slowly - between 15-20mph. This really helps us with washboarding. Our driveway is also a little rough and is steep, but we are able to maneuver trailers up and down without any problems. Let me know if you have any road/access questions, and I’ll do my best to clarify it more.
