Built in 1667, the Daniels House is the oldest BnB in Salem MA. The Home is centrally located and within walking distance of historic sites/attractions, restaurants, the ocean, bars/pubs and live music. Consisting of 12 rooms , 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a common dining area, old family "hall", backyard patio/smoking area and remodeled kitchen for private events. The Daniels House is considered a Bed and Breakfast home and is registered with the city of Salem Reg # 1116. Your stay at the Daniels house will be a unique experience and transport you back in time as you sit by its 9 fireplaces and spend a night in what feels like a living museum. The house was built in 1667 by the shipwright Stephen Daniels, and has the honor of being one of the oldest Bed and Breakfasts in the United States. Lovingly restored by its new owners, Adele and Patrick, who purchased the property in 2019, each room has been tastefully redecorated and possesses a distinctive charm and personality. Many of the antiques have been passed along with the house from owner to owner telling a story like no other in Salem. There are 3 guest rooms available for rent and an additional room can be added to make a suite. Please inquire directly if you are interested in booking a suite. About the East India Room: Inspired by Salem’s maritime history and trade with the East Indies, this room has a distinctively Oriental vibe. Decadently decorated, it features two full size beds, a day bed, and early modern oil paintings. Located on the third floor, the East India Room is offered singling or as part a suite combined with the Butler Room and/or the Marion Room, with which it shares a bathroom that features an antique claw-foot bath. When booked as a single room you may share a bathroom depending on availability. We live in a portion of the house and will be available in person during the normal business hours. The neighborhood is centrally located and is steps away from Salem's main attractions, the waterfront and some of Salem's best local pubs and restaurants . Some attractions to check out in Salem include The House of Seven Gables, Salem Common which has a park for children and there is always events put on by the city. The Witch Museum, PEM Museum, The Witch House, Salem Maritime National Historic Site and Derby Wharf Lighthouse, Salem Witch Trails Memorial, Witch Dungeon Museum, Salem Willows, Salem Witch Village, Salem Pioneer Village, Witch History Museum, Winter Island and Waikiki Beach, New England Pirate Museum, Hocus Pocus Tours, Gallows Hills, Ropes mansion, Salem Custom House, Fort Pickering, Salem Harbour, Pickering Wharf, Ye Olde Pepper Companie( America's oldest Candy Company), Some restaurants include Turners Seafood, Howling Wolf Taqueria, Sea Level Oyster Bar, Adriatic Restaurant,Opus,Mercy Tavern, Passage to India, Antique Table, Red's Sandwich Shop and many more. Depending on which season you plan to visit Salem, parking can be difficult on the main roads. Walking around Salem is always the best way to see the city. The Daniels House is situated right in the middle of all the action. We suggest you park at the Daniels House and pick up Salem's Heritage trail just outside the property. Uber and Witch Taxi are always available for you to schedule pick ups. Essex and Derby St run parallel to each other and will take you to most all of the action in town.
