Our 100% SMOKE-FREE Gateway House is nestled just west of beautiful Downtown Des Moines. I-235 is 90 seconds away, putting you downtown in 5 minutes, and anywhere else in 15 minutes! Ingersoll Avenue, home to dozens of locally owned restaurants and bars, is a 2–3-minute drive and a 5-10-minute walk. Our charming bungalow has everything you need to function! We proudly display artwork that accents the culture our city has to offer, and you will feel relaxed indoors and out during your stay. The space We have a fenced-in yard with a driveway and free off-street parking. Our place is family friendly, with 3 televisions, high-speed internet, numerous board games, and space to play in the front or back yard. There's a 3-season front porch to relax and enjoy your morning coffee or a cocktail in the evening. The whole place is yours. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal and there's a gas grill out back. The basement has full laundry for your convenience. Each bedroom boasts a comfortable queen bed, and there's sleeper sofa in the living room. The antique dining room table will accommodate your group should you choose to eat in, and the kitchen has a peninsula with 2 bar stools as well. Guest access The whole place is yours! There are 3 steps to get into the house at the front and 3 at the back. Other things to note Rules, Rules, Rules--this is the part we hate! However, we pledge to provide the cleanest, healthiest haven possible for all guests, so PLEASE: *NO SMOKING *NO VAPING *NO TOBACCO *NO ILLEGAL DRUG USE (this includes marijuana) *NO EXCEPTIONS *This means anywhere IN, ON, or WITHIN SIGHT OF the property, and includes guest's vehicle. *Guests NOT permitted to stand on neighboring property to do any of the above *GUEST ACKNOWLEDGES: Violation of any of these will result in immediate cancellation of reservation with no refund. We never want to cancel a reservation, so please book elsewhere if you or any of your guests have the above habits. Thanks for understanding! __________________________________________ PET RULES: *Upon booking, guest agrees to all of the following: *DOGs ONLY--ONE housebroken dog ONLY--no puppies *NO PIT BULLS OR PIT BULL MIXES, or aggressive dogs; absolutely no exceptions. We don't carry the supplemental insurance required by the city, nor do we have the special kenneling required for these breeds. PLEASE book elsewhere if this is your situation, as we would be forced to cancel your reservation immediately if you book with a dog of this type. *GUEST AGREES to clean up dog poop at the time mess is left *GUEST AGREES to pay fine of $250 for any dog poop piles not cleaned up in yard and disposed of properly in outdoor trash container. Indoor messes left will double to a minimum of $500, with possible increased charges if necessary. *GUEST AGREES to pay invoiced cost of replacement furniture and delivery charges, as well as temporary rental furniture costs, if dog damages furniture *GUEST AGREES to kennel dog if left alone in the house *GUEST AGREES to trim dog's nails prior to stay *GUEST AGREES to keep dog off all furniture *GUEST AGREES AND ACKNOWLEDGES no excessive barking indoors or out will be tolerated *GUEST AGREES AND ACKNOWLEDGES that Gateway House Hosts are NOT responsible if guest's dog escapes yard *GUEST AGREES AND ACKNOWLEDGES that a LEASH IS REQUIRED if dog is outside of fence--NO EXCEPTIONS, out of respect for our neighbors and city ordinances *AGAIN, we are looking out for the health of all guests here, so please--if you can't abide by every one of these rules, book elsewhere.
