Built in 1667, the Daniels House is the oldest inn in Salem MA. This First Period property is beautifully preserved, filled with antiques and historic artifacts. It is centrally located near the waterfront and within walking distance of many historic sites and tourist attractions, plus restaurants, bars, & live music. Continental breakfast is served in the dining room, and guests have access to the old "hall" (which features a fireplace carved with 17th-century hexmarks), and a backyard patio. The space Your stay at the Daniels house will be a unique experience and transport you back in time as you sit by its 9 fireplaces and spend a night in what feels like a living museum. The house was built in 1667 by the shipwright Stephen Daniels, and has the honor of being one of the oldest Bed and Breakfasts in the United States. Lovingly restored by its new owners, Adele and Patrick, who purchased the property in 2019, each room has been tastefully redecorated and possess a distinctive charm and personality. Many of the antiques have been passed along with the house from owner to owner telling a story unlike no other in Salem. There are 3 guest rooms available for rent and an additional room can be added to make a suite. Please inquire directly if you are interested in booking a suite. About the Great Room : Historically the most popular room, the spacious and opulently decorated Great Room features a large wood-burning fireplace, a king size four-poster bed, antique furniture and hand-painted portraits. There is a walk-in closet, cozy lounge area, and it comes with its own private bathroom, which includes a fireplace as well as a soaking tub. Once an eighteenth-century parlor, used for entertaining visitors and conducting business, the Great Room offers guests luxurious and memorable lodging. Lodging License # 10-26 Guest access You will be given a code for the exterior door upon arrival and also a room key. During your stay We live in a portion of the house and will be available in person during the normal business hours. After hours you can reach us via phone or email. Other things to note We use a guest portal with a pre check-in process. You will be asked to upload a copy of your ID and answer some questions that we need to verify as per our policies and as stated in the rules to the lodging license issued by the town. Once the pre check-in process is complete, you will have access to our guest portal until after your stay. In the portal, you will find all the information you will need for your self check-in and stay including house rules, parking, discounted museum vouchers, early check-in requests (for an additional fee), celebration packages, tea service to your room and additional info about the Inn and Salem.
