Beaches, Antiques, Restaurants, Night Life, Pelham House 1/2 mile. The space DENNIS PORT Dennis is known as the Heart of the Cape for good reason. It’s situated in the middle of the Cape with beaches facing both the Ocean side (Nantucket Sound) and the Bay side (Cape Cod Bay). Dennis serves as a home base for many travelers exploring all parts of the Cape and Islands. NIEBORHOOD Dennis Port (A village with-in Dennis) Is located on the Nantucket Sound side of Cape Cod (South) facing the Islands and open ocean featuring warmer waters than the North side and much warmer than the outter cape. The best the cape has to offer is within reasonable walking distance from your room. You'll find the best in Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Ice Cream, Happy Hours, Beach Bars and Entertainment. THE HOUSE Built in the 1700's by the Sea Captain Barnabas Wixon as a home for his family down stairs and 3 guest quarters with a private entrance and bathrooms for his upper level crew upstairs. The Captain and his crew went down with the ship 20 miles south west of Nantucket shortly after the home was completed. While the ship, captain and crew went down at sea a few months later one would think it was haunted. But the only paranormal activity ever detected has been that of a very positive energy as noted by countless guests. A number of suspected Pirates then took over through the 1800's with same setup, Captain downstairs and crew upstairs. Some say Black Beard himself but my investigation leads me to believe that is false. Since then the home has been a Speakeasy, a Restraunt, a home for unwed mothers to be and a Bed and Breakfast. I purchased the home in 2017 and converted part of the down stairs into a recording stuido where national recording artist would stay in the rooms above while recording. In 2020 the Recording Studio was relocated due to COVID restrictions and I converted the home back into a B&B. THE ROOMS Private, similar to a hotel set up, with a privte enterance and private attached bathroom. My vision is to provide a place a guest could just walk in with nothing but the clothes on their back and want for nothing. Keeping Vacationers, The remote workorce & rainy days in mind every amenity imaginable is provided. Time is valuable and I do not want guests spending it stressing about what to pack or wasting valuable sun time racing around town for various amenities. All bedding and linens provided, coffee machine, microwave, mini fridge, disposable plates and utensils, soaps, shampoo’s, coffee and tea, sunblock, sunburn gel, razors, bikini gel, Misc meds.....I could go on for an hour. You’ll also find beach chairs, beach umbrellas, cooler, beach towels, ice and magazines and a beach cart for it all in each room. Ice and cooler packs are located on the deck. GETTING AROUND Car, Bike, walk and an excellent bus service with stops 1/4 away. Uber is very responsive. I do have bikes available, old school beach cruisers, 1 gear, no breaks and a little salt air rust. Great to hit the beach or local shops but not for extended bike tours and especially not for one of the many races hosted locally. TELEVISION There is a 44” HD Flat screen TV with all premium channels as well as streaming (Netflix, Paramount+, Infinity, Hulu, HBO Max and more. INTERNET AND WIFI The Wi-Fi is the fastest available on Cape Cod boasting a speed of up to 800 mps down and 20mps up. Streaming has never been a problem. WORK REMOTELY There is a small desk for working from the room provided. WiFi is the best offererd on the Cape. Arrangements can be made for printing to a network printer I keep located downstairs. Extra fold out tables available at request. THE BEACH Check in at 12:00pm, be on the beach by 12:15pm. Sea Street Beach is located less than a half mile from the house. There is parking but between Memorial Day and Labor day there may or may not be a $30 fee to park. It can fill up quick during peak times of the season. Save $30.00 a day beach parking with a simple 8–10-minute walk or 5 minute bike ride from your room. Each room equipped with 4 Wheel Cart, 2 Body Board, 2 Beach Chairs, Cooler, Ice, Beach Umbrella, Regulation Frisbee, Books and Magazines. Here you will find the warmest waters on the Cape. Drop into the Pelham House Resort (at the beach and open to the public) for your favorite cocktails & or full menu and fantastic happy hour around the pool. A number of steps are required get from the parking lot down to the beach (20?). Public bath/changing rooms. SUNTANNING ALTERNATIVE For those days the wind is to strong or the air right on water too cool I created a small mini beach in the yard right here at the house a half mile back from the beach. OVERALL Perfect balance between Beach Get away, Quiet Relaxation, In-Room Entertainment, Home Office workspace with a home like atmosphere From parking to check in to check out its all-self service via keypad entry. BE ADVISED These are not luxury rooms. It’s a very old house 1750 with updates in 1872. Floors creak & windows stick and in the winter dust can be a challange. But, it is overflowing with charm and positive energy which has been noted by countless return guests. And given its the only place for under $300 a night in the area the price isn't too bad either. SUNSET YACHT CRUISES During the summer I move out of the house and live on my boat at Bass River. I have to move out of the house so I can rent it so I can afford the boat on Bass River LOL. For my guests I offer a sort of Sun Set / Dinner harbor Yacht Cruises aboard ‘Thunder Island’ a 33’ Yacht I keep slipped at the Bass River Marina for a 1-hour spectacular sunset cruise along the Bass River out to the open ocean, along West Dennis Beach and back. $95.00 for up to 6 passengers. Refrigerators and Ice are on board if you’d like to bring Beer & or Wine. (no red wine please – white boats + red wine + waves = Sandy on her knees scrubbing for hours on end lol) At the Marina you’ll find The Summer Shanty, a very popular full-menu restaurant with old school waterfront dining, fantastic cocktails, and raw bar. Many guests book this cruise before or after dinner at the Shanty. Do NOT plan your stay around this opportunity. We are on the open ocean side of Cape Cod. The seas can be very challenging so weather is a major factor. Boats are also increadably expensive and practically impossible to have repaired in a timely manner. Any problems typically mean the end of the boating season. Its Old School Cape Cod. Stairs are Steep, Floors may Creak, Windows get Stuck and Walls can seem thin. Quiet hours are 24/7 While I do live down stairs I make it a point to provide total privacy. Unless requested to do so I rarely encounter guests.
