Ola'a (meaning "lively" in Hawaiian) House is a 1,700 square foot home in the heart of Volcano Village featuring vintage Hawaiian furnishings and original art. The house is owned and has been thoughtfully updated by the co-founder of Kilauea Lodge and former Magnum PI make-up artist Albert Jeyte (the house was part of the Kilauea Lodge properties.) Enjoy 2 bedrooms, one with king bed and the second with two twin beds (can be made into one king bed), one full bathroom between the two bedrooms, and an extra vanity and sink inside the second bedroom. There is a twin sofa bed in the living room. The living room with gas fireplace has plenty of room to hang out and play games, read, and a smart television with WiFi for streaming. A full kitchen with sunroom and large garden with outside seating await you. This home is directly across the quiet street from "Tutu's Place" owned by my wife and the two properties can be rented together for wonderful larger gatherings accommodating up to 10 guests. I follow Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance. Here are a few highlights: o I sanitize high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknob o I use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and I wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination o I clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists o I provide extra cleaning supplies, so you can clean as you stay o I comply with local laws, including any additional safety or cleaning guidelines At 3,750 feet altitude, the town of Volcano, and most of the National Park, enjoy a cooler climate than the sea-level communities. The private road, Hale Ohia Lane, is treed with a wide variety of old growth species and immediately takes one back in time to the days of Old Hawai'i. The home is filled with original art by Hawaiian artists, Hawaiian furniture and fabric. Hale Ohi'a Lane is a private cul de sac located in the very heart of Volcano Village walking distance to 6 restaurants, 2 small grocery stores, a laundromat, post office, and gas station. Native flora and fauna, unique to this altitude in Hawai'i, surround visitors, enhancing your serenity and connection with nature. The smells, sights and sounds reflect life in a slower, simpler time. Up the road is Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, Volcano Golf Course, many galleries, hiking trails, and numerous other unique activities for all ages. The entrance to Volcanoes National Park is less than one mile away. The nearest airport is Hilo Airport (ITO) just a 40 minute drive to Ola'a Plantation House and a 2-hour drive from Kona Airport (KOA). Keep in mind...Public transportation is available but limited on the Big Island. It is not practical if you plan to visit the park. It is advisable to rent a car at Hilo or Kona Airports. Driveway parking is sufficient for 4 cars and street parking is NOT ALLOWED. PLEASE download the driving directions to the home after booking your visit as GPS guidance can be limited or incorrect.
