Other things to note Keep in mind that Hawaii is known to have a few roaches, geckos and other insects, especially during the winter rainy season. We do our best to keep them out by having quarterly exterminations. To help us with this cause and to keep our Hawaii "pets" from entering, we ask that you put food away and keep doors shut at all times. Thank you for understanding. Please educate yourselves on the island & culture and what you can do to help as a guest on the Island. *Never touch wildlife - can result in a large fine & huge disappointment of locals. Give them space, let them be. And remember you're in their home. *Leave no trace - Leave places cleaner than you found them. Meaning pick up all opala (trash) whether it's yours or not. *Reusables!! Hawaii has a ban on single use plastics so help reduce waste by using reusable straws, utensils, bags, etc. *Use reef-safe sunscreen! *AVOID GEO-TAGGING! This is a major one resulting in the exploitation of sacred Hawaiian Gems. Help preserve nature & reduce traffic so you can always come back & enjoy the land. *Shop local If you make use of these tips I promise Hawai'i will be good to you & always welcome you back.
