While you may hear us from time to time (we’re usually out early), we respect your space and privacy. If you’re extremely sensitive to sound, this may not be the right fit, but most all of our guests tell us it’s peaceful and quiet. 🐛 A Note About Nature We’re surrounded by the beauty of the tropics – which sometimes includes a cane spider or even a cockroach. It’s part of life in Hawaii, even at luxury resorts. But don’t worry – they’re harmless, and we keep everything clean and well maintained. You’ll also spot geckos and other local critters, which we consider lucky visitors! ✅ Good to Know • This is a non-smoking, no-pet property except for Wilson your co host • Maximum 2 guests per stay (per permit requirements) •. Please do not use the couch as a bed • Washer/dryer available – just ask! • Licensed and permitted BnB • Construction has begun nearby, but most guests haven’t been disturbed (we value transparency!) 💸 Incredible Value With Maui hotel rates soaring to +$700 per night on average (according to Beat of Hawaii, Feb 2025), the Sugar Shack offers a unique and affordable alternative – and no one beats our mascot and co-host Wilson, the German Shorthair Pointer who will always amuse and entertain you. ⸻ We love sharing our home and this special part of Maui with guests from around the world. If there’s anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable, just let us know. Mahalo for considering the Sugar Shack – we look forward to welcoming you! Aloha, Lala Guest access Guests have access to our large yard for relaxation or fitness. Use of washer/dryer is available upon request. It is located outside behind your bedroom window in an enclosed laundry shed. Soap and dryer sheets are available and complimentary. We also have a spacious double clothesline which I use all the time to dry my items in the fresh Maui sun and air. Feel free to use the electric dryer as well. Please latch all fence gates when entering and exiting the property. Even when using the laundry area. Wilson, our German Shorthair Pointer co-host is safe inside the property fencing and gate. He is not safe out on the public street and access points. Feel free to use house amenities. They are provided for your comfort, enjoyment and convenience. A few friendly reminders: 1. Close all windows when air-conditioning is in use. Do not run the AC with the windows open. 2. Do not leave the stove, air-conditioning or lights on when you leave the property. 3. If the power goes out (it happens) do not flush the toilet. Please check the GFCI outlet located on the right hand side at the base of the toilet, above the baseboard. If it's red, you can reset it by pushing the center button. It must turn green. If it does not turn green, do not flush and notify us immediately. The only paper that can be flushed is toilet paper. DO NOT flush paper towels, napkins, feminine products, bottle caps, Q-tips, cotton balls, rags, magazines, plastic, etc. These items will cause the toilet to stop working. If it stops working, every effort will be made to repair it. If you did flush something other than toilet paper, notify us immediately. 4. If something breaks or isn't working properly, please allow us the courtesy and opportunity to correct it. We do our best to ensure light bulbs, batteries and other devices are in working order, but sometimes they just stop working due to no fault of anyone. It just happens and we will do our best to get it back up and running. Extra batteries and lightbulbs are stored in the unit. 5. If you choose to play frisbee with Wilson, please try not to throw the frisbee over the fence. Its easy to mis-gage or the wind takes it. Be very mindful to throw it gently so it doesn't go over the fence. If it happens, let us know. The cane grass is sharp and we prefer you not walk through it looking for the frisbee. Other things to note Check In is 3pm, we will do our best to accommodate early check in when available, so feel free to check with us. We use a professional cleaning service and pay a living wage to our staff, thanks in advance for your support. Check out must be no later than 10 am. to allow enough time to prepare the unit for our next arrival. Taxes are imposed by the state and county and are subject to change. If a tax increase goes into effect after your booking date, a notice will be provided to you showing the official change in tax rate. Mahalo. Registration Details 225010033000, TA-018-704-3840-01
