Description

A great neighborhood in the heart of mid-city. Close to great restaurants, racetrack, City Park, grocery, wine and coffee shops. Bus to French Quarter stops in front of the house. Street car a few blocks away. Great New Orleans' spacious porch. The space A beautiful private home in the remarkable Mid-City neighborhood. We are willing to share this amazing New Orleans home while we are traveling. Walking distance to great Esplanade Avenue restaurants, beautiful cemeteries, wine bar, coffee shops, bookstore, neighborhood grocery stores, City Park, New Orleans Museum of Art and Sculpture garden, racetrack (i.e. Jazz Fest), access to bus and streetcar, ride a bicycle or five minute taxi to the French Quarter. Abundant safe street parking. Three large bedrooms plus den with a pull out bed, formal dining room, living room and music room with baby grand piano. New Orleans kitchen that for the times you want to eat on the fantastic front porch. There is an antique gas stove with 4 burners, grill and oven that was refurbished in February 2024. Classic center hall architecture, front entryway gas lantern, restored balcony porch in the heart of a walking neighborhood. Backyard patio grill and entertainment area. Banana, pomegranate, satsuma, key lime trees and a jasmine entangled wrought iron fence face the street. Large den/sun room with futon can be used as a fourth bedroom. Entire upstairs main house, front porch, yard, back garden with fountain and patio with outdoor seating, gas/charcoal grill. There is a separate apartment downstairs. Guests are greeted by the local host, who will be available to assist guests with questions and recommendations. Host will not be on the premises, but available when needed. According to Fodors: "With its tree-lined streets and avenues, neighborhood gathering places and historic landmarks, the Mid-City and Bayou St. John neighborhoods are decidedly more tranquil than their downtown counterparts. While you may not find "Huge-Ass Beers to Go" or music blaring out of every doorway here, you will find a quieter form of charm in the gardens, galleries, and lagoons of City Park, in the elaborately constructed tombs of the cemeteries, and on the tree-shaded patios and decks of the restaurants and cafés where you can listen to the church bells keep time as you relax with a cold drink." On a major bus line that runs to the French Quarter, which is a straight path from the front of the house. The streetcar in nearby and taxis frequent this area.
