Charming 3 room apt in 1870 carriage house
Stay in 3/4 of a 4 room free-standing house. Upstairs: a large master suite with cathedral ceiling. Downstairs: dining/sitting room and modern kitchen. On a very quiet dead end street just steps from vibrant Arlington Center and Spy Pond. Upstairs is a master suite with cathedral ceiling, downstairs is a dining/sitting room and well-equipped kitchen. New central air and heating systems. Television with broadcast channels and video streaming capability. Parking is available for one car immediately adjacent to the unit. The street, which comprises the Avon Place Historic District, is a quiet dead end that connects bustling Massachusetts Avenue with its shops, restaurants, local pub and theater to the quiet Minuteman rail trail. The trail connects to several other trails and the Alewife MBTA station in the eastbound direction, and historic Lexington and Bedford in the other. Great for runners and cyclists! Also, brand new public tennis courts approximately 300 meters from the house across the trail at Spy Pond field. Beautiful Spy Pond is a 5 minute walk away, has a lively playground and offers canoe and kayak rentals (and very good fishing!) during the summer months. This is a stand-alone dwelling with a private entrance. Hosts live next door and are available to offer assistance as needed. We're happy to advise you in exploring the neighborhood and surrounding areas! The house is located at the eastern edge of Arlington Center, which is the restaurant hub of Arlington and draws visitors from many surrounding towns. Approximately one half mile to the east is the East Arlington commercial district, which includes the Capitol Theater, a popular independent movie theater, and an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. Arlington is a great mix of city and suburban living, with all the expected conveniences of a city plus great parks and a small-town feel. Almost anything you need is within walking distance of the house. Approximately 2 miles to the east is Somerville's vibrant Davis Square with its mix of restaurants and pubs, and Cambridge's bustling Porter Square, home of the music club Toad, which has great music every night and never a cover charge. Harvard Square is another two miles down the road. Transportation options abound: the Alewife Red Line "T" station is a brisk and scenic 15-20 minute walk down the quiet Minuteman trail. If you have a bike it's 5 minutes. The Minuteman trails runs from Cambridge to Bedford, a length of 11 miles, and connects to several other trails and paths. The Red Line spans Cambridge, Somerville and Boston, all the way to Quincy and Braintree in the south. At and near the corner of Avon Place and Massachusetts Avenue several bus lines converge which take travelers into Cambridge, Somerville and Boston. Blue Bikes for rent can be found at several nearby locations: search for "Blue Bikes" and "How it works" for details. One parking space is reserved for the unit. An additional parking space can be arranged if needed. A 220V/30A outlet with electric car charger (Tesla) is available and can be used if arrangements are made. Bring your own charger if needed! We also rent the house in its entirety, which adds a living room and a second bathroom. Please let us know if you are interested in the additional space. Also note that we don't rent the additional room and bath at the same time as the three room apartment, but we may use the space ourselves. The spaces are separated by a door that locks. We kindly request that guests do not move furniture or disassemble beds/sofa beds without speaking with hosts.
