It has a large covered open air private lanai area, which has peeking ocean views & magical sunsets. -Lots of plant life on the property; banana trees, palms, plumeria trees, bamboo & coffee plants. -Designated parking space right up front, marked by orange cones, paved driveway. -The kitchenette is stocked with a toaster oven, hot plates, crock pot, sm. microwave, blender, french press, coffee grinder, electric water kettle, mini refrigerator, spices & cooking oil, and the cupboards are fully stocked with dishes & utensils. We offer whole bean coffee and tea as well. - Main living room area has ample seating, coffee table books, deck of cards, puzzles, jenga and a roku TV - just remember your passwords to your own streaming services. -Outdoor lanai dining table. - Backyard has a convenient large utility sink for rinsing saltwater off beach items or personal items. Please be aware of sand going down the drain. There is a charcoal BBQ located here too. -The bathroom is fitted with earplugs, ibuprofen, eye wash, first aid items, aloe, shampoo & body wash. -The bedroom closet has extra blankets, an ironing board & iron, extra towels, wash cloths, a hair dryer & extra toiletries too. - If you are bringing your pet, please be extra safety-conscious about watching your animal. Because animals are super curious and may not recall well, please have your pet on a lease at all times outside and while you’re taking them to the bathroom. Even our personal pets that we know so well - can be unpredictable and uncomfortable in new surroundings There is a highway below us and that is not a good combination. We want your pet safe just as much as you do. - Also the back yard/lanai area is the pets only area for outside, beyond the bamboo is not our property and the upper yard does not have good sturdy path. Also please pick up your pets poop, we make it easy with an outside rubbish bin. Thank-you in advanced. - Our Ohana is located in the heart of town - within walking distance of local restaurants/bar, a KTA grocery store, post office, banks, local library & Hele gas station. There will be traffic & town noise. - The Kona Community Hospital is also located very close by, if ever an emergency! You will have access to the entire ohana and all surrounding outdoor areas. The ohana is on the lower/first floor. The only shared space is the driveway, where you will be parking. We live on the property - upstairs & are available for anything you need during your stay. Message us anytime and we will respond asap. Our Ohana is located in South Kona - right in the heart of Kealakekua, there are some great attractions & adventures very close by. Here is a list to get you started on your exploration: -Two Step for snorkeling -Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park(next to Two Step) -Kealakekua Bay for snorkeling -Captain Cook Monument & hiking trail -Manini Beach Park, for a picnic & sun bath -Ho'okena Beach Park, black sand beach -Big Island Bee Farm tours -Greenwell Farms (coffee tasting & tours) -Stroll historic Kainaliu town, vintage & antiques -Barefoot Zone - delicious fresh fruit/açaí bowls! -Catch a show/play at the Aloha Theatre -Kaya's Coffeeshop, favorite slow paced place for coffee & conversation (vegan & vegetarian) -Gypsea Gelato, very yum! - Reel Aloha - Fresh poke! - The Korner Pocket Bar & Grill, great happy hour prices & live music on weekends -Randy's Hulihuli Chicken, Thurs & Fri only -KTA, local grocery store -The Coffee Shack, amazing breakfast views! -Higashihara Playground, great place for kids -Sunday Farmer's market - Captain Cook We recommend that you rent a vehicle, the Big Island is fairly spread out and to reach most beaches & sights - you must drive. The infrastructure and road systems here are not like other places, the bus system is very sparse as well as the Uber/Lyft availability. Just a heads up. Also the Big Island’s EV infrastructure is in place but sparse. Our space is not set up to charge an EV, as electricity is wildly expensive. Please consider that. There is USPS Post Office across the street, if you are sending postcards and such, that’s the best location. We’d prefer that - then using our personal mailbox because it is tricky. Our driveway is marked by a large wooden address sign, it is well lit up at night. The driveway is steep but also well lit by solar lights. Heads up if you are staying a long while, there is not a washer/dryer available in the Ohana. There is a Laundromat right down the road, KC Washerette. It is open everyday of the week. We do have a transaction card you can put money on to use during your stay. That way you don’t have to pay for a new card. It will be in the desk drawer labeled. Bugs & geckos/lizards are a normal part of life here. (geckos in the home are said to be good luck) You may see them during your stay, anywhere & everywhere you stay on the Island really. In order to keep them to a minimum we have provided outdoor dining areas which we feel you may prefer anyways. We also ask that you empty the inside food rubbish every few days if staying a week or more. You will hear a serenade of the Coqui frogs & crickets at night, especially after an evening of rain fall. They make a very distinct sound, some like it and some do not. We do provide earplugs in the bathroom medicine cabinet if the night noise bothers you too much. Also since we are up mauka there are sometimes wild piggies that roam the mountain at night. No worries though, they are more afraid of you than you should be of them. Just a heads up, you may hear them once in a while. And maybe a random chicken or two. We do have two kiddos that are always learning & growing. So you may hear them or even see them in passing. We also have a small black fox terrier/chihuahua named Goose, he is quite a friendly puppy. You may see him also. Also please pick up your pets poop, we make it easy with an outside rubbish bin. Thank-you in advanced. No Parties, No Drug Use, No Smoking, Mahalo!
