Welcome to Thistle Cottage, a charming New England style cottage lovingly refurbished with plenty of character. This light & airy home is in a friendly setting, 1 mile from UMass Dartmouth, near beaches, kayaking, trails, close to dining and shopping, and the Padanaram and Westport villages. Our central location provides easy access for day trips to Newport, Providence, Cape Cod, or Boston. WiFi, smart TVs, luxury linens, and supplies are provided. Our cottage is handicap friendly - there are no stairs. High Speed WiFi is provided, supporting multiple devices. There are 2 Smart TVs, a 50 inch in the family room and a 43 inch in the king bedroom. Beach towels are provided. The king bed can be made up into 2 twin beds if preferred. The family room apartment size couch can be used for a child to sleep on, and there is a twin folding floor mattress available for another child, as well as a Pac'n Play for a baby or toddler. There are games and puzzles for children and adults and a game table. There is a small deck with a gas grill and an area for children to play, along with off-street parking for 3 cars. There is ample space to spread out in the house - there is an eat-in kitchen, a family room with TV, a sun porch to relax and/or dine, and a living room with an electric fireplace for ambiance. The TV room has a door for privacy and can be used as an extra sleeping area for children. There is an apartment size couch in the room, and a fold-up floor mattress can be provided, as well as a Pac'n Play for a baby or toddler. The bedroom closets have ample space to hang and store your clothes, with a place to easily tuck away your suitcases. The kitchen provides plenty of pots and pans, nd for baking needs, etc. Available appliances include: a coffee maker for K-Cup or 12 cup carafe, coffee grinder, microwave, toaster, blender, rice maker, food chopper, mixer, and emulsifier. There is a small pantry for extra food storage. A washer and dryer are provided. Also, the king bed can be made into two twin beds if that would be more convenient for your guests. Self-entry is available via a keypad lock, with the code provided upon reservation. The house is entirely at one level and the entry is "at-grade" for ease of mobility impaired guests. The yard is included for guest access, except for areas beyond the fence behind the garage. We live nearby and are readily available for any questions, concerns, directions, or recommendations. If we happen to be away during your stay, there are also family members available to assist. Please let us know should there be any special requests (e.g. cooking, child toys, highchairs, etc.) and we will gladly do our best to make it available. Thistle Cottage is nestled in an area conveniently located near a Mall, groceries stores, liquor stores, bus stop, fitness centers, tennis courts, golf courses and driving range, mini golf range, libraries, Chucky Cheese, Roller skating, and more. There is a water park about 30 minutes away. About two and a half miles from the house you are able to rent Kayaks and enjoy the Westport River. The Whaling Museum is about 10 minutes to New Bedford along with water front stores and Restaurants. U-Mass Dartmouth is about a mile. Padanaram is a quaint little village nestled by the ocean with shops and restaurants only 8 minutes away. Horseneck Beach, considered the best in Massachusetts and Gooseberry Neck, another State Beach with hiking and birding are about a 15 minute drive. Westport also has shops and restaurants about 10 minutes away. There is so much more so we recommend that you look activities in the area. Shopping and Bus Stop is about a 1/2 mile walk. The King bed can be made into two twin beds.
