The reviews say it all! We'll make you comfortable in our classy, colorful and convenient garden apartment on the Hadley/Amherst line. Close proximity to all schools in the Five College Consortium, we are surrounded by the fertile farmlands, beautiful mountains and happy valley....with a view of the UMass campus a mile away as the crow flys. Culture abounds! Due to families traveling from afar during graduation weekends, we require a 3 night minimum. The space Wake up to the songs of dozens of different birds on the edge of this wetland home to a blue heron rookery. This Hadley home is a classic center hall colonial that features a beautiful large, new, furnished, basement walkout garden apartment. There are two private entrances on each end of the home. One is off of the driveway with plenty of parking and the other through a shard-mosaic greenhouse that leads to the gardens and backyard. you have your own private deck with grille and outdoor furniture. There is a fun tire-swing, porch swing, picnic tables and access to music studio.(although not offered through this listing, the whole house may be made available for larger parties on occasion) Great stay anytime of the year! This property is set in farm country and super convenient to all of the Five College Consortium of Amherst, Northampton and South Hadley. The walkout garden-apartment is fully furnished and the kitchen has modern appliances, granite counter tops and a nice dining area. You'll have your own keyless tiled entry and use of our shared washer & dryer. A large bedroom with a California King bed and the second with a queen size bed, along with an office\den with a full futon, can accomodate six guests or eight with the comfortable Simmons pullout couch\hide-a-bed There are comfortable reading chairs and two desks with comfy work chairs and computers w\ high speed (5G) Internet connection. (Or you can use our WiFi connection from your personal devices. The high definition TV has BlueRay 3D and All Share capability. The living room has comfy fabric sofas. The tiled bathroom, though small, is new with a large shower. Our property borders wetlands along the Mill River estuary of the Connecticut (and a small damned section of Puffers Pond nearby) which is great for swimming, fishing and birding. We're surrounded by horse farms and just down the road from the UMASS' farm where llamas, horses, and many other farm animals live. They have open houses to visit spring lambs and horses. It is just over a mile from the Mullin Center (NCAA D1 hoops & hockey and large concerts) and Fine Arts Center (world-class performance venue) on the campus of UMass and convenient to the other campuses of the Five College Consortium. (Amherst, Smith, Mt. Holyoke and Hampshire) We have an abundance of great restaurants, museums (The Mead, Eric Carle, Smith and Mt. Holyoke, Yiddish Book Museum, MASSMOCA), music venues in Northampton (NoHo or 'Hamp endearing names depending on whether you're a local or visiting). The Basketball Hall of Fame, the Museums at the Quadrangle and the college campuses of Springfield are just 30 minutes away. The "Big E" (Eastern States Exposition) is hosts New England's largest fair and trade shows. The Tri-County Fairgrounds host National Morgan Horse Show. There are great music festivals (Green River Festival, Falcon Ridge and Fresh Grass) Six Flags New England amusement parks are also 30 minutes from the house. If you love the outdoors, there are wonderful trails to hike, snowshoe and ski. The area boasts a seven mile spin into Northampton on beautiful bike paths and beyond to the Berkshires. Although we are not directly on a public transportation route Peter Pan Buslines stops a mile away on the UMass Campus. Amtrak's Vermonter is close by and public transportation and rideshares are convenient. We are just over an hour to the Berkshires and even closer to Southern Vermont's border. The Berkshires features Tanglewood (the summer home of the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops), the Williamstown and Stockbridge Theatre Festivals and the Williams College, Clark Art, Norman Rockwell, Chesterwood and MassMOCA museums. Southern Vermont and Berkshire skiing are close by and easy to get to. We are two hours to Boston, three hours to New York and four to Montreal and Quebec! Pricing starts at $110 for the entire apartment for two people. ($35 additional per person/per night) Special offers can be made for longer stays. Our greenhouse features an amazing shard mosaic display shown in the some of the pictures on this site. We offer a welcome basket with our famous freshly baked banana bread, cereal, coffee and teas and stock the refrigerator with milk and juice for you to enjoy upon your first morning. After that, you are on your own as far as food goes.... that is unless you want Don to cook for you and your guests and serve on the deck or dining room. (Trader Joe's Whole Foods, Aldis and more nearby) We like to travel and entertain. Ask us about our many travels. where we always use AirBnB rentals. Our place on the beautiful little island of Vieques off the coast of Puerto Rico is also listed (Google Casita Linda) with it's secluded Carribean beaches, bioiluminesent bay and wild horses! Guest access Guests have access to a large and very comfortable fully-furnished two-bedroom walkout garden apartment and an amazing shard mosaic greenhouse for coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening. We'll welcome you with our signature banana bread, fruits, juices, cereal, coffee and tea. The yard has fruit and berries to pick if you happen to be here at the right time. A California king bed is in the master bedroom and a comfy queen bed "mango room". A full-size futon and/or memory topped hide-a-bed is the third (and fourth) option. Access to the living room and eat in kitchen walks through the den with the futon to the small bathroom Other things to note Ask about use of the amazing screened building in the back yard. We have provided a grill and patio table and chairs for you to enjoy outdoor dining in your own private deck area off the shard mosaic greenhouse. And.....don't forget to ask about our AirBNB property on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Vieques.
