Description

A third-floor oasis in the heart of the Garden District. The room features a queen-size bed, private bathroom, mini-fridge, cable TV, and a private balcony with sweeping views of New Orleans, all shaded by a stately live oak tree. Voted among the "Top Ten Haunted Airbnb Locations" by Buzzfeed. The space Located in the heart of the Garden District, the Parks-Bowman Mansion is a classic example of the good life in New Orleans. Shaded by palm trees and a live oak, the deep porches on all three levels tempt you to rest and relax. The soaring center hall leads visitors to a carved cypress staircase ascending to the very top of the house, lit by stained-glass windows and massive chandeliers. There’s a music room, a formal dining room, a “ladies parlor,” and a fully appointed kitchen where you can enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee in the morning. Outside, a lovely garden surrounds a back porch for lounging and a full size lap-pool. There are three rooms available. This listing is for the Haunted Bedroom. Don’t worry, our ghost (a young girl in a yellow dress from the 1890s) is very shy; you probably won’t see her, although some people swear she exists! If you prefer, please check out our other listings: the Red Room, and the Library. The Haunted Bedroom features a queen-size bed and sitting area, and is one of the two largest bedrooms available in the house. It features a full shower bath, and also offer immediate access to the third-floor porch, with its sweeping views of New Orleans. All rooms have internet access, mini-fridges, and cable TVs. Our dogs, Boggs and Breaux (RIP Moxie and Loebie) looks forward to greeting you at the front gate, and while you may not see our two cats (they mostly stay in our portion of the house) they may sneak out for a visit. Our house is furnished with our extensive art collection, which we’ve acquired in over thirty-five years of travel. Oh, and a little bit about us: Adrienne Parks-Bowman is a novelist and screen-writer, and Bill Bowman is a documentary film-maker, music producer, and web designer. We can’t wait to share our house with you, and introduce you to the city we know and love so well. We’re right near Lafayette Cemetery, Commander’s Palace, the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line, and the shopping and dining pleasures of Magazine Street.
