Stay in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by nature yet within minutes of Concord center and Walden Pond. You are renting a ground-level apartment in my home with a private entrance, two bedrooms, living room and full bath. Both bedrooms have queen beds, bureaus and large closets. The kitchenette area includes a microwave, small fridge, Keurig and drip coffee makers, Breville compact oven, hotplate with frying pan and sauce pan and cooking utensils, toaster and electric hot water heater. There is a clean-up sink around the corner in the laundry room and a kitchen table suitable for 4 (with one higher chair for a small child - not an infant). There are all the usual plates, cups, glasses, bowls and flatware and plenty of empty cupboard space for your supplies. Food provided includes regular and herb teas, a selection of coffees, sweeteners, hot chocolate, snacks and microwave popcorn. I have several coolers if you need more "freezer" space. Your "smart" 55-inch Ultra HD 4K TV comes with over 150 cable and music channels as well as Netflix and Amazon Prime. The high-speed Wi-Fi has a strong signal downstairs. The laundry room is next to your space. Detergent and other supplies are on hand along with the ironing board and iron. Plenty of extra towels, blankets, pillows and all guest amenities are provided. Central heat and air conditioning with your own thermostat. When you check out just pick up and leave things neat and don't leave anything behind! All the rest (trash, stripping beds, etc.) is taken care of. If something breaks, just let me know. Things happen. Enjoy the woodlands view, birds and frog pond sitting in the adirondack chairs in the back yard. There's plenty of space to play catch and romp in the front yard. I will normally be here in person to welcome you and walk you through the space. If not, I will give you check in instructions. I am happy to help with questions or suggestions or assist you in any way to make your stay as welcoming as possible but totally respect your privacy once you check in. I would like your stay here to be a nice part of your travel experience, not just a place you stay while you are having a travel experience. I don't allow parties and events out of consideration for my neighbors - but the space is yours and you are certainly welcome to entertain your friends, family and colleagues in the apartment. You may smoke anywhere outside. My house is just outside the town center in the more rural part of Concord located on a quiet dead-end road which abuts conservation land on both sides. Concord center, Minuteman National Historical Park, Walden Pond and the Fitchburg commuter rail station that connects to the MBTA subway system in Boston are less than a ten-minute drive away. The train brings you all the way to North Station, well within walking distance to many Boston sights and attractions. Approximate Driving Times with Normal Traffic: Cambridge 25 minutes, Boston 30 minutes and Logan Airport 40 minutes. The Fenn School, Concord Academy and Middlesex School are about ten minutes away. Emerson Hospital is five minutes. You are within a ten-minute drive to Weston, Wayland, Lincoln, Acton and Maynard and 20-25 minutes away from Stow, Carlisle, Westford, Littleton, Bedford, Harvard (town of), Waltham, Chelmsford, Marlborough, Burlington, Lexington and Arlington. Worcester and Lowell 40 minutes. Infants and children are welcome. There is infant tableware as well as a PacknPlay. Please note there is a little frog pond in the back yard which could be a toddler hazard. I have a good selection of family and children's games, books, toys and puzzles. Walk or drive to the school around the corner which has a large playground and climbing apparatus, swings and physical challenges for kids of all ages. The Bruce Freeman rail trail starts around the corner which takes you all the way into West Concord (and beyond) so bring your bikes or rent them in town or walk 2.3 miles each way. There you will find several restaurants, funky shops an organic grocery store, the best ice cream shop in town and the Club Car diner (which is where us locals go for breakfast). The rail trail also intersects the Old Artillary Range conservation land with its rockier woodland trail. Or drive three minutes to the White Pond conservation land trailhead. Other conservation walking trails are a 5-minute drive (10 minutes to Walden Pond). Download the All Trails app for nearby areas or visit the Concord Land Trust, Sudbury Valley Trust or Concord Natural Resources web pages for trail maps. The favorite historic walks are around Walden Pond, the walk from Ralph Waldo Emerson's house in downtown Concord to Henry David Thoreau's Walden Pond cabin site which both men traveled frequently to visit and around Sleepy Hollow cemetery with the Thoreau and Alcott burial places (and others) and Daniel Chester French (Lincoln Memorial) marble sculptures. You are welcome to bring one dog (note additional charge of $150 per stay) but dogs cannot remain here alone so if you are planning on seeing the sights this isn't a good option. However there are a few doggie day cares nearby. There is a dog "business" area in the woods in the back (no clean up needed) so please never use the front or back lawn. While here keep your pet on a leash at all times. The marshy bog down below is not something you want them to play in and the surrounding woods do have ticks. Too, neighbors on both sides have dogs which, although they are contained by electric fences, yours is not. Please don't let your pet sleep on the furniture. Dogs on leashes are welcome on the rail trail, all Town and Land Trust (and some federal) conservation trails but not at Minuteman National Park, Walden Pond or designated wildlife areas. Pets in cages or tanks are welcome, but I cannot accept cats as many guests are allergic to them and mine (Henry) would not be enthused if he heard or saw or smelled one! The rental space has been inspected for safety and licensed by the Town of Concord.
