Rainforest at the urban edge

House is 40 years old, but tastefully renovated with modern appliances, ample natural lighting, "open-concept" shared spaces including bar between kitchen and dining area, and high ceilings. Spaces are relatively large with no clutter. The space Space is clean and free of clutter, and recently renovated. It's upper Manoa so there is usually a cool breeze, with frequent rains (especially in early morning). There are a lot of natural sounds including birdsong, and I have free range chickens (including a rooster) that will make noise periodically throughout the day. The wind and rain in the trees at night may be disturbing if you are not used to it, but altogether it is a very natural and private experience. I am conservation minded, so house has solar water heating and photovoltaic system that exports net energy to the grid. I have personally installed a rainwater catchment system and installed plumbing to service all toilets, most outside hoses, and outdoor shower. Guest access Owner requests that guests not access bedrooms not assigned to them, but otherwise will have access to the entire house (including kitchen, bar, dining room, living room, front and rear decks). Guests may also access an extra half bath, but need to know that the toilet train cat uses it and that bathroom is under video surveillance. Guests are free to explore the landscape (mostly state property) but at their own risk, the terrain can be uneven, heavily foliated in places, with numerous ledges and precipices. Young children especially should be supervised outside. During your stay I work full time on weekdays, typically take my son to school after 7 AM, returning after 5 PM on days that I have my son, sometimes later when I don't. On weekends I spend a lot of time in the landscape. I work nearby so can usually be available in an emergency. This is one of two rooms in the house with private bath that is listed on Air B&B, so there is a possibility of other guests being in the house during your stay. Other things to note If you live on Oahu I will immediately cancel your reservation and ask for you to contact me describing the circumstances why you want to stay in my house (I'm very happy to host locals, but I'm not a social worker and my house is not a self check-in drug rehabilitation center). If you show up with more guests or under circumstances different than described in your reservation / communications with me, or abuse drugs in my house I will cancel your reservation and throw you out.
