BOHO, International vibe inspired by Host’s world travel; Awaken to Sunrise over Haleakala, listen to surf and local birds, watch Surfers, Kiters, Sailboarders, Kanaha beach from the secluded back yard. Central location - rent a car or Uber to get to most places- Wailuku town is 1 mile walk. Hosts live on-site for needed assistance, otherwise allow guests to enjoy their peace and solitude during the evenings after the day's adventures. FAST Internet. Hale Anuhea Kai is a small, family owned retirement business featuring 2 private guest suites in a centralized, safe local neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of heavily touristed centers. This recently updated, artsy, moody room features vibrant tropical color and an eclectic travel- inspired decor designed for the quiet enjoyment of couples and singles visiting our island for work or vacation. An eclectic mix of antiques, fine art, and world travel finds creates a unique transitional global atmosphere for travelers. The Suite has its own private, key-coded entrance through our shared foyer, and a sliding glass door opens to your own private lanai for outdoor dining/ lounging. After a day of hiking, beaching or sightseeing this is the perfect getaway after enjoying the pleasures of Maui away from crowds of tourists. The bright, international vibe is enhanced by brilliant original art by acclaimed local artist, ( our daughter) Taryn Alessandro, as well as textiles and treasures from world travels. Private off street parking, updated super fast WiFi, and small but well appointed Kitchenette; a split system AC unit cools the room on the rare occasions that Trade Winds are light. The private lanai is partially enclosed for privacy, with the opening providing ever-changing harbor and broader ocean views and access to the larger, shared and enclosed back yard. You can check wind and surf conditions at Kite beach/ Kanaha from the yard. We provide simple breakfast items to get you started, including banana bread from our own banana and coconut trees, as well as local coffee beans. The small kitchenette offers microwave,/ convection oven, mini- fridge, induction burner, bar sink, small appliances and dinnerware for those who prefer to eat in, and there are several restaurants nearby that have eat-in, take out, or delivery options. A shared gas grill is available in the outdoor kitchen adjacent to the main house. Additional guests beyond 2 adults ( one child under 12 travelling with parents) may be allowed with prior permission, and strict parental supervision, assuming it is no more than 1 and sleeping on a floor mat. Fire code does not permit more than 2 adults in the room. **The listing is not suitable for young, active children due to size, water feature, plants, antiques, and a dog. Clothes Iron, hair dryer and curling iron as well as beach chairs, beach towels and cooler bag are also available for guests to use at your own risk. The property features a large shared yard with ocean view, gazebo by the pond, and grilling patio. There are three separate units on property- two for guests; one for hosts- each with private entrances, cooking areas, bathrooms, and private outdoor dining. Residing on property are a friendly miniature Schnauzer named Bert who takes his greeting job very seriously, (however he is not great with children that are noisy or running), a shy black cat named Cinder who provides critter control, and 2 chicks Jackie, and Jilly. We are a legal, permitted accommodation through the state of Hawaii. Permit #BBWK2019/0004 Besides your own private master suite with en suite bath, kitchen prep area, closet, & semi-enclosed outdoor space, you will have access to a shared outdoor area with ocean views, gazebo, and grilling patio. The shared laundry is at the back of the Ohana entry garden. Access to laundry area for Suite guests is limited to hours when Ohana guests are not in residence so as not to disturb them- usually mid afternoon. Please provide your own detergent etc to minimize allergies and sensitivities. Booked guests will receive address, directions, Self-check-in guide, house manual and WiFi access codes before check in. We live on site and are happy to assist with recommendations of restaurants, shopping, hikes, or other attractions. We allow our guests as much privacy as desired, and respond to any suggestions or requests as quickly as possible. During the day we may be maintaining the yard and home maintenance , and running errands from 9 am to 6 pm-ish when guests are out, unless guests are using the outdoor areas. If for any reason we should need access to the guest rooms for maintenance, repairs or emergencies, we will make every attempt contact you for permission to enter first. We are very centrally located with easy access to all parts of the island, and within minutes of all major amenities- Airport, Hospital, shopping, restaurants, theater, beaches, and area attractions. Perfect location for exploring all of the beauty Maui has to offer, and excellent launching point for the road to Hana or Haleakala. We are 1000 feet from Kahului Beach, (which is great for collecting dritwood or beach stones, but not ideal for swimming or sunbathing) and within walking distance to Maui Arts and Cultural Center, Keopuolani Regional Park, YMCA, Baseball and Football Stadiums, Botanical Gardens, Saturday Farmer's Market and Flea Market, shops and restaurants in Old Wailuku Town, and public transportation. It's just a short drive to Iao Valley State Park, Waihee Coastal Dunes, Iao Theater, Wailuku Town and many other spots to explore. This is a quiet local neighborhood so we have strict quiet hours between 8pm and 8am. ** Due to the beach and open land proximity, and near constant onshore trade winds that cool our rooms, there can be some dust that blows in from the beach and metals rust very quickly.*** We also have 1 dog, a cat and 2 chickens on site that are not allowed in the guest rooms. Please advise us if you have any environmental, animal or food allergies so we can adjust accordingly** Access to public transportation is a block from the house, however you'll probably want to rent a car to truly enjoy the island on your own timetable. We have a Honda Fit available separately through TURO for our guests’ convenience, and includes free airport and delivery for B&B guests. Manaloha Car rental is a short walk from the house and has reasonable rates on used rentals. There are lots of great hiking trails & beaches around, but you'll need wheels to get to them. Read House Manual completely. Please allow us the opportunity to be 5 star hosts!. If anything needs our attention, we ask that you notify us immediately so we can attend to it immediately and not learn it on review. Please keep screens or doors into your unit from the back yard closed at all times to prevent doggie escapes or unauthorized gecko entries! We have very few mosquitoes, but you may see some unavoidable island flies. The feral chickens you may hear help keep the bug populations under control. It is safe to leave the slider open at all times to take advantage of the cooling trade winds and hear the waves below. The island and tropical climate of course have plenty of bugs- please do not leave any food out on countertops or you will be greeted by ants. Dispose of all food waste immediately to prevent ants and roaches. There is a brown Garbage container for your trash in the guest driveway. Pickup is early on Monday and Thursday mornings. Please separate recyclables ( bottles and cans only) and place in the blue recycling bin behind the garbage bin . During much of the year we are on water restrictions so we ask guests to use towels and water resources conservatively. There is no towel service provided with this room. We provide one bath towel and one beach towel per guest. Additional towel service may be provided if needed. Please do not use towels or linens for removal of makeup or any stains. Use makeup removal pads or makeup cloth provided. Stains that cannot be removed or cause damages beyond normal wear and tear, requiring replacement or repair, will be charged to you. Guests may use the shared laundry for one personal load, but please do not mix clothing with linens or towels. Please report any damages or repairs needed immediately so we can correct the problem ASAP. We supply filtered water for each room to reduce use of single use plastics. As of Jan 1 2018 the State of Hawaii requires all tourists pay a “Tourist Tax" which is the combined Transient Accommodations Tax plus General Excise Tax. This will automatically be added on to your fees. Lic-BBWK2019/0004 GET -GE0633635840-01 TAT- TA0633635840-01
