Come enjoy this gorgeous home steps away from shops, yoga, and coffee. You will be staying on the world famous North Shore of Kauai. World famous beaches, golf, surf, hiking trails, sailing and so much more of the Garden Island. Get excellent service from our local support team and the owners that are often onsite and are always available online if they are not onsite. This zen-inspired home features three bedrooms, two full baths, an incredible indoor-outdoor great room with lanai, complete with a comfortable outdoor dining area and grill. Sink into the sounds of birds, warm days, tropical nights and feel the rejuvenation and joy that Kauai offers. This house is the perfect gateway to the famous Road to Hanalei. We are 2 miles from Hanalei which is home to the iconic Tahiti Nui restaurant, Hanalei Bay, great shops and restaurants. Convenient location for ATV, horseback riding, sailing, charter boat fishing, learning how to surf, paddle boarding up the Hanalei River and kayaking tours. If keeping it low key is more your style, pack up the car for a day outdoors, or put on your hiking shoes because there are so many areas to explore. The house has been stocked with beach chairs, umbrellas, a cooler, snorkeling gear and more. When you get back, you will enjoy the freshly painted and remodeled bathrooms, and the cool and relaxing environment of the house. There are two dining areas, separated by two sets of gorgeous french doors that allow for convenient dinner parties and small gatherings. The house is in a sweet neighborhood in a golf course community and while we encourage sweet gatherings, we can't have large parties. Princeville has quiet hours after 10pm, and has its own 24 hour security. The property sits on 1/4 acre and we have for the last 7 years planted as much food as possible. We have moringa, bele spinach and noni in the front yard, near the front door a few papaya trees and turmeric and taro, and in the back we have avocados, coconuts. The driveway has enough space for up to three cars. Overflow parking beyond 3 cars is tricky though, so please read the section on parking for more information. One of the best features of this two-story, 2100 square foot home is that it has a fantastic open floor plan with high vaulted ceilings that allows for plenty of air flow between the kitchen, dining and living rooms. The meditative zen-inspired spacious master bedroom has a California king size bed and 3 of the 4 walls are graced with windows looking out onto trees giving you the feeling of being in a luxurious treehouse. The two other rooms are downstairs, great for maybe distance workers or students as they offer privacy and each has its own work area. The third bedroom also has a television set. The area under the stairs is a great place to enjoy your morning cup of tea or coffee. Most mornings of the year this space lights up with bright morning sunshine. Enjoy our cast iron tea set and the herbal teas in the pantry. Slow yourself down, and enjoy Kauai more. Outside the house we built a storage area for your stay where you will find fun things like beach chairs, beach umbrellas, some snorkeling gear, body boards, a small portable charcoal grill, and a cooler. Toys for countless hours of entertainment and unwinding. Please enjoy these. Please use the foot cleaning station on the left side of the front door. Wash off the sand prior to entering your lovely homebase after your adventures hiking at the trails nearby, surfing, swimming, snorkeling or just sunning on one of the many beaches nearby. PLEASE READ THIS Please be aware that there are full-time residents in the homes adjacent to this property. Also, the owners occasionally use an apartment that is separated from the main home by a two-car garage. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a considerate and peaceful environment for everyone involved. This home is not a five star hotel however we have made every effort to put together an environment in which you will be comfortable and relaxed. It is not a bad place to call your homebase: comfortable, serene and beautiful. We raised our two daughters in this house, and through the years the home has accumulated some personality in the form of scratches on the hardwood koa floors, a few scratches on the appliances from all the times we've made epic meals with friends and family. Please be mindful that not everything is new. We are close to the ocean also, so there is rust in places. Please come in knowing that this is a well-loved home, not a lack of attention to detail. Maybe think of it like your favorite pair of blue jeans or that leather satchel you've had for years. We have the most incredible property management team to take care of you. Diana and her level of care as a host, her 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry sometimes as a concierge, her astute team of cleaners, and the landscape caretakers will be around and available while you are away exploring the glorious world of Kauai's north shore. Rest assured, you will be in fabulous hands. Hawaii is tropical so there are occasionally bugs that wander in. We use insect 'bait' traps and mostly organic insecticides to keep our home free of bugs but not toxic for us humans. Bugs do wander in, but rest assured the most dangerous thing you will see is a mosquito. Thankfully we don't have poisonous bugs here. We have asked our cleaners to use organic cleaners. However it's really hard to keep a home super '5 star hotel' clean with just organic cleaning products so they use what they must to keep the home clean. The island of Kauai has feral cats, neighborhood cats, feral chickens and even occasionally feral pigs wandering around. We have traveled a good chunk of the world and stayed in many hostels, homes, cheap hotels, expensive hotels and five star resorts. We know what we like and we have done our best to make our home awesome for you. We trust that you will have a great stay and an incredible time while you visit one of the most beautiful places in the world. We love our home and we hope you fall in love with it as well. We have great parking! You can easily get two cars parked on the right hand side of the driveway but we have squeezed in up to three mid size cars. Please note that Princeville has a very strict HOA and you can only park in the driveway. Parking across from the house yields parking tickets during the day and if you park across the way overnight your car will get booted, a very expensive fine. There are signs indicating this up the block. Actually, please know this for all of Princeville. Parking alongside the side of the road is mostly strictly prohibited. Walking around Princeville is awesome. The views of the mountains as you walk the steep and fun trail to Anini Beach. The awesome bird's eye view as you descend to Hideaways beach is breathtaking. The Queens Bath area is other worldly. Views of Hanalei from Princeville Bluff are beautiful. Our home is one of the most walkable neighborhoods on Kauai. You are steps away from the local grocery store, a hardware store, three fitness studios, salons, a few restaurants, a coffee shop and Lappert's famous Hawaiian made ice cream. Look out for postings of artisan fairs, farmers markets and live music. Princeville is a family-friendly place too. We are about a block from the Princeville playground, a fantastic library that hosts occasional talks about local flora and fauna, and a community center where you can access affordable tai chi classes or attend a slack key concert. During your stay on the island, a local contact will be readily accessible for any assistance you may require, through text messages, phone calls, or in-person meetings. Please be aware that cleaning staff, gardeners, and maintenance personnel may occasionally be present on the property during your visit. However, they will not enter the main living areas of the home without providing prior notification to guests. The property owners are often at the front of the property. Rest assured, these areas have separate entrances, and access to the main home from the owners residence will remain locked and inaccessible while guests are in residence. Please park on the right side of the driveway, the owners mini van is parked in the left. Princeville is on a Bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and is home to outstanding world-renowned golf courses. The neighborhood that the house is in is truly one of the most walkable neighborhoods on all of Princeville, and all of Kauai. All over Princeville you will see stunning views of the mountains, the ocean, golf courses, and gorgeously kept homes. It is a tranquil, mostly quiet, neighborhood that is excellent for all ages. Not only is it convenient to shopping, the neighborhood park is a block away. We are right across the street from the Princeville Shopping Center. Here you will find most if not all of your shopping needs met. We have awesome yoga studios, a spin lab, massage offices, doctors, dentists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, realtors, a couple of salons, a fun monthly night market, live music on the weekends, and an Ace Hardware! You can walk to Anini Beach, Hideaways Beach, Queens Bath, the Westin and even Hanalei if the river/tide is low. Renting a car is the most productive way to take advantage of your time in Kauai. There is also public transportation, taxi and Uber but they work on a limited schedule or by reservation. Renting through Turo is a great option to rent a car. We are fortunate to have some of the best weather in the world. However we are called the Garden Island for a reason. It is important to check the weather reports and make informed decisions because it gets wet here. Our home is well set up for remote workers, team meetings and remote students but because Kauai is one of the most remote islands in the world, we can lose Internet connectivity occasionally. Same goes for cellphone service. That can also be unstable at times. As a family of 4 we have worked and studied remotely from this home for many years. ** The ocean at times can be very treacherous. Please, if the waves are big keep your distance. You might see some locals or other people in the water in big surf, please know that not everyone has the same level of wherewithal in the ocean. Please respect the ocean. If you are unsure, ask a life guard, or stay out of the water. Also, please use only reef safe sunscreen. We don't refund for bad weather, failed internet, big waves, no waves, spotty cellphone service, etc. The locals say if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes. Normally that is the case, but not always. Please be flexible with your plans. The house is a good size at 2100 square feet, its a nice place to just hang out in when the weather is not cooperating. Enjoy our beloved hale, from our Ohana to yours. Linda and James
