Charming log home on 2 acre rainforest property
Description
Surrounded by lush rainforest, this vintage 1600SF log cabin offers one of the most unique experiences on the Big Island of Hawaii. There is nothing else like it anywhere around, bohemian and chic while also rustic and rugged, you can delight your senses in the outdoor shower lit by tiki torches under the stars before climbing into bed for a great night's rest to the song of the cocqui frogs. Its for those looking for an experience beyond the cookie-cutter condos, for the adventurous at heart. The space The classic log cabin has two upstairs bedrooms, one full upstairs bathroom with a soaking tub (no shower), an outdoor shower, living room, dining room, full kitchen and covered back porch/lanai Guest access Guests have access to the entire log cabin (save a couple locked supply closets) while the host stays very close by in a separate dwelling right next door. Other things to note This is the rainforest. There may be rain. It will be damp. There will probably be some mud. Sometimes the jungle smells funky. There will be insects. There will be loud coqui frogs, maybe some feral roosters crowing in the morning and the occasional wild pigs. The volcano is often erupting and the nearby vents spit gases that might be harmful to those with breathing difficulties. This is true of any place on the island and it really only depends on which way the wind blows at any given time. With the rain and volcanoes comes extraordinary plant life and wildlife and the eccentricities of the area are part of its charm. We provide umbrellas, flashlights and mosquito repellent. Beyond that, please accept that these are universal features of the environment and beyond our control. If you are uncomfortable with wild nature or seeing a spider or spiderweb terrifies you, Puna will not be a relaxing vacation for you. While we take great care and monitor the air quality inside the cabin, the outside rainforest is teeming with a diverse blend of algae and funghi. If you have asthma, allergies or any health condition that may be affected by this, you are accountable for your decision to book here and no refunds will be issued. Its magnificent for many; but not for everyone and that's OK. Its heaven for the rugged and adventurous; but other parts of the island might be more suitable for those seeking a modern resort-like experience. All that considered, with ample and reliable electricity and Internet, reliable hot water, screened in windows, two smart televisions, a lovely little vinyl record collection, 100% cotton bedding and new top quality mattresses, our home is exceedingly comfortable for the area.
