Entire home, 3-night minimum. Dining/living area, modern kitchen (gas), deck, garden. Master BR (queen bed), adjoining bedroom (full bed), master bath (tub & shower). Upstairs BR (king bed, day bed, trundle), bath (shower), large flat TV. Basement entertainment area full sofa bed, large flat TV, table for art, games, projects. Books & art indoors, nature outdoors, birdsong in season. Walk to Woods Hole, WHOI, MBL, bike path and beaches (parking pass for Nobska). Outdoor shower. The garden that surrounds the house is inviting, restful, and expansive. The house is surrounded by green, birds and birdsong in the summer, glorious colors in the spring, summer, and fall, and often, spectacular white with brilliant blue sky in the winter. The house has the feeling of an oasis but is near science, music, the Shining Sea Bike and Walking Trail, and great places to have a drink or a meal. The house is very private, on a winding dirt road one block long between paved streets off the main road to Woods Hole. In the gravel parking area next to the house there is room for 3-4 cars. All of the house and garden are available to guests except for owners' items and supplies in storage in the basement in shelving, cabinets, and refrigerator, which are not available to guests and clearly marked as such. This is the vacation home for me and my children and grandchildren and we are able to maintain it by renting it to people like you who may appreciate its quiet beauty. It does not lend itself to being a party house. There is plenty of support available, including me via text, email and phone, and a house manager available for troubleshooting and resolving problems, responding to urgent requests. The house is in a kind of funky neighborhood called Cherry Valley. All kinds of interesting people live here - a world-famous potter, the creator of the NPR program called "The Moth," biochemists, artists, a master of Jin Shin Jyutsu highly gifted in body work, a skillful machinist, journalists, attorneys, accountants. The neighborhood is a great place to walk around at all times of day and in all seasons. You can walk to all the interesting science displays in Woods Hole (MBL, WHOI, the Aquarium), the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, excellent restaurants, bars, cafes - many on the water. The famous Shining Sea Bike & Hike Path, which begins in Woods Hole, is an easy 5-minute walk from the house. The Woods Hole Library is also a wonderful place to hang out, with a fabulous book sale going on all year. We're exactly one mile from Woods Hole Village and the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. As a result, public transportation is available for Falmouth, Cape Cod, Massachusetts and beyond. 1. The house is most comfortable for 2-4-6 people. 2. There is an annual invasion of tiny sugar ants in July. No way to seal them out of houses. Ant traps and spray provided in abundance. They don't bite. 2. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING. July is the hottest and most humid month in Woods Hole.
