The most unique stay in Winterset! Legacy Stone House AirBnB is a historic residence located one mile east of Winterset, Iowa. Built in 1856 during the Settlement Era of Madison County, it is one of nearly 100 stone houses built during that time in the area. Officially named the William Anzi Nichols House, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Convenient centralized location if visiting Madison County’s six covered bridges and two minutes from grocery, gas and dining. The space PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ SO THERE AREN’T ANY SURPRISES UPON ARRIVAL. This is a private residence located on our homestead property just outside of Winterset. The stone house is located near a busy highway, so there is some road noise. The stairway that leads up to the bedroom/bathroom is narrow and steep. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU CONSIDER YOUR ABILITY TO NAVIGATE THESE STAIRS BEFORE BOOKING. On the main level of the house you will find the kitchen, living room, dining table and laundry/mud room. On the second level you will find a small sitting area, and the bedroom with one queen size bed. Two additional twin size air mattresses can be added and a possible third upon request. The bathroom is located upstairs as well. We also run a small auto body and restoration business on the property but it should not interfere with your stay. Guest access Guests are welcome to walk the property near the stone house. Pets should remain on a leash as we are located next to a busy Highway. Other things to note Pets are welcome here. No more than two pets. Our pet fee is $75 per pet for 1-2 night stays. Please reach out to us if you are bringing your pets for a longer than two nights day. Please make sure you have included pets in your reservation. We ask that pets should never be left alone, unattended in the house, unless they are in a crate. You will be charged if damages occur. If excessive barking occurs while you are away, and they are in a crate, we will reach out to you. We do have pets on the property including one dog, two cats and several chickens. No parties or large gatherings. Thank you.
