Spacious, Country Living, Hosts with Aloha. Private, Ocean, and Maui Views on a three-acre farmstead await you. So much privacy that it feels like you are on thousands of acres. Executive Suite for the price of a studio. Enjoy the spirit of Aloha in this private setting with a fruit orchard and gorgeous ornamental and edible gardens accompanied by a magnificent view of the ocean and the nearby Island of Maui. The property is located eight minutes from Hawi Town, a quaint artist village offering many Eco-activities, great hiking, restaurants, and live entertainment. We are upcountry, so the climate is delightful and a bit cooler than the hot coast, yet we are close to excellent snorkeling, swimming, and the best beaches and hiking. The property is stunning. There are only two units on the property. Therefore, you have privacy and quiet. The Zen Pond adds a centerpiece to the diverse landscape. Enjoy a majestic view from your bedroom, lush gardens, and rolling hills down to the sea, with Maui in the distance. At night, enjoy the heavenly skies and, by day, beautiful scenery. Accommodations include an oversized bedroom, a king bed, and a lovely private bath. We converted the double garage into a spacious, equipped kitchenette and living and dining area. Here you will find a library of various books and games. The spacious, 500 sq feet furnished area offers a beautiful garden view when the doors are open. The laundry room for the property is in this area. There is also a delightful courtyard and BBQ area where you can dine outside. There is cable TV and Wi-Fi Internet access. A welcome fruit basket is provided and replenished daily during your stay. During your stay, you are invited to harvest whatever you can eat from our orchards and gardens. We live on the property, but you will have complete privacy and access to us if you need anything. We have one rule at Always In Season; if you need anything, ask. There are only 2 rental units on the property, the Suite and the Aloha Cottage, which are very separate. At Always in Season, our home is powered by the sun. We compost, recycle, and are avid gardeners. Forest, pastures, and ranch land surround us, with a few other county homes in sight. We choose this spot for the fabulous scenery, cooler climate, and privacy. Where your hosts, Donna and Kevin, and we have years of experience on the Island. We enjoy sharing the special places we have discovered here and assisting you in any way we can to help you have a memorable vacation on the magnificent Big Island. You can choose various activities such as massage, yoga, dancing, hiking, ocean swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, healing horseback riding excursions, dolphin quests, zip line, and farm and garden tours. Of course, you can always hang out, read, write, paint, or meditate. We also offer Culinary Classes with a Farm-to-Table Meal and Culinary Healing Arts Retreats, which you can ask us about. This is Hawaii, and there are friendly geckos but few insects and no noisy coqui frogs. How close to the beaches, swimming, and snorkeling? Sandy beaches are just 30 minutes away. We are just 15 minutes from Mahukona Beach Park, offering fantastic snorkeling and swimming, but no sand. What is the climate like? We are upcountry, so the climate is delightful and cooler than the hot coast, yet we are close to great snorkeling, swimming, and the best beaches. Do we need to rent a car? Yes. We can offer suggestions on car rental options. Best place to buy groceries? Takata Grocery in Hawi town offers some good food options, but it is recommended if you stay awhile to stop at Costo, Island Natural Foods, or other large grocery stores in Kona before you head to rural Hawi. What about Farmer's Markets? There is a Saturday Farmers Market in Hawi and two other great Saturday farmers' markets in Waimea. There is also a Wednesday Farmers Market in Waimea. Are there good restaurants nearby? There are several good restaurants in Hawi and many more choices just 30 minutes away in Waimea. Do you have beach gear? DIRECTIONS Directions from the Kona Airport to Always In Season Farmstead Retreat: Put 56-875 Kamalei Place, Hawi, in your GPS, but just in case you are old fashion, follow these directions. The distance from Kona International Airport to Hawi Hawi is approximately 50 miles and takes about an hour. Travel North on Highway 19 to the Kawaihae junction, about ½ hour. Turn left towards the harbor and take highway 270 North to Hawi, about 17 miles. Once you reach Hawi Town, you will make your first right at the Gas Station that is Hawi Hill. Drive to the top of the hill around 2 miles, turn right at the top of the hill, Kohala Mountain RD, go for about 3 city blocks and make your first right, Puu Mamo, go about 1.5 miles and Puu Mamo dead ends and the name changes to Kamalei Place, you can only turn left so take it, go up the hill and take your second left and that is our driveway… Land Mark- you will see a yellow fire hydrant on your left, and our driveway is on the next left. We love to share this amazing area with you. It is very quiet here in the top of Malia Ridge. Surrounded by pasturelands scattered with sheep, goats, horses and a few cows.... and a couple of nice humans neighbors. Wonderful walking out your door, a quiet country setting. You will need a vehicle to get around Plan to stay awhile, this is an awesome area with terrific artists, eateries, hikes, sunsets, history, nearby beach and snorkeling, and no vog here. Hawi is close to the best of the best on the Big Island
