This beautiful vacation home is 200 yards from Pebble Beach - hiking trails, snorkeling, & nearby family-friendly activities. You’ll love the spacious lanai great for whale watching, ocean views, dining & yoga! Along with the peaceful neighborhood for star gazing, the professionally decorated home, well-stocked kitchen, stainless steel appliances & granite counter-tops. It is located 7 miles from Place of Refuge - Historical Hawaiian Park & Two Steps and 70 miles from the Volcano National Park. The peaceful home is two-story, with garage on the street level and the complete living area and lanai upstairs. The house has wireless internet and cable provided. The house is fully stocked with linens, bath towels, dishes, kitchen supplies and numerous appliances. We provide beach towels, beach chairs, snorkeling equipment, beach umbrella, boogie board, cooler, and yoga mats. There are ceiling fans in the living room, bedrooms and portable fans in the closet. There are ample mountain and ocean breezes with screens on every window. There is no air conditioning in this house. You have access to the full house - 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, massive lanai with a second dining area, garage, driveway parking for 2 vehicles, propane grill. Please remove your shoes on the lanai - it is Hawaiian custom and we strive to keep the home clean by not eating in the carpeted bedrooms. The rest of the home is hardwood. I am available throughout your stay via text, phone, Airbnb app. We have a property manager nearby who can assist you if needed. We do our best to have the house perfectly ready so you have everything you need and give you privacy for your stay. For longer stays, we can arrange for additional house keeping on request. Also, there is 18% Transient Accommodation tax, General Excise taxes & mostly recently 3% tax for Honolulu’s (On Oahu Island) over-budget rapid transit system included in the daily rate quoted. The neighborhood is a very peaceful and friendly place full of full time residents who call Kona Paradise home. You will easily meet people at the beach or walking up and down the road for exercise and morning swims. Sunset is another excellent time to gather at the beach. In the evenings, the neighbors prefer the dark night sky for star gazing and relaxing so please turn off the stair & lanai nights once finished with them at night. Noise travels easily so please be mindful of others. The home is located 25 miles south of Kona, 33 miles south of the airport. We are 7 miles from Place of Refuge and Kealakekua Bay (Capt Cook Monument area). The house is about 60 miles from Volcano National Park and 35 miles from the Black Sand Beach & Punalu'u Bake Shop in Naalehu. You will need to rent a car to easily access this area. Four wheel drive is not necessary. The subdivision road is steep so please drive slowly and down shift. We are close to the beach & you will lose about 1000’ elevation from where you leave the highway at the top. One unique thing about this area of Hawaii - all of the houses are on a catchment water system. The rain water is accumulated and stored in a large covered tank behind the garage. The water is filtered through a UV system and two other filters. A catchment system requires guests to be conservative in their water usage and not let water run endlessly while brushing teeth, showering, doing dishes etc. The water tank should not run out, but it could if guests are not mindful of usage. A water truck has to be called if this occurs - very rare and very expensive. Also, there is no trash pickup in many parts of the big island of Hawaii, including our neighborhood. This means that you will need to take your own trash & recyclables to a site, 3 miles away yourself. It is an additional $50 charge/fee if you leave any garbage/recyclables on site. It is not part of the cleaning fee or rental fee. The closest site, 3 miles away, is not open every day. Please plan accordingly for your departure day. I describe location options in the Welcome letter or you can view the facilities & locations available at http://www.hawaiizerowaste.org/facilities/ Also, this is the tropics. Please be mindful of putting your food away & cleaning up or ants will come. I have no problem with ants; however, I put most food away in refrigerator. Also, occasionally there are very tiny gnats that ‘bloom’ with weather changes. The life cycle is less than a day but gnats are attracted to light at nighttime & there is not a great remedy except turning out indoor & outdoor lights. All windows are screened but they are very, very tiny & can get inside. The pest company does not treat for them & they are not harmful nor do they bite - just annoying. I do recommend packing mosquito repellent because we sometimes have mosquitos outside at night.
