Perhaps that's why so many tour companies bring visitors to our neighborhood to explore the charms of authentic Hawaii, filled with lush jungle, local fruit stands, coffee shops and the best snorkeling on the island. Within 10 minutes, there are places to grocery shop, restaurants with local and international cuisine, and great hikes, beaches and peaceful bays for swimming. We recommend a vehicle with clearance to enjoy the treasures of the Big Island and to easily navigate the County swale at the top of the driver. Four wheel drive is NOT necessary. Uber is also an option but can be expensive. The roads are a bit narrow for mopeds and the local Hele-on-bus is not very convenient. Kailua Kona is 15 miles and approximately 20 to 25 minutes away. The airport is 22 miles away, which usually takes 35 to 40 minutes by car, on average. The volcano is 41 miles away, so give yourself 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours at a leisurely pace. Hilo is 2 hours away. This unit is on the second story, accessed by a private exterior stairway. NOTE: Please do NOT wander down neighboring driveways, roads or lots to honor the privacy of our friends and neighborhood.
