Aloha! Relax in the 1BR/1BA cottage with a full kitchen, living room, dining area, and AC in bedroom. Washer/dryer, outdoor shower, and a covered deck with with dining table. Hawaii GE Tax: GE-004-392-3456-01 Hawaii TA Tax: TA-004-392-3456-01 *Two night minimum stay, although we will book a one-night reservation if there is one night open between the reserved dates of other guests. Our home is located in the rural town of Hana, on the East side of Maui. There are beautiful beaches nearby, including Hana Bay, a 10 minute walk away, and Hamoa Beach, a 10 minute drive down the road, consistently named one of the most beautiful beaches in America, where we like to spend our time surfing, swimming with the kids, and lounging under the shady trees. Lots of hiking to see waterfalls and swimming in fresh water pools, including Oheo (Seven Sacred Pools) that is part of the U.S. National Park Service and Waianapanapa State Park that has a cool volcanic grotto you can swim in, a black sand beach, and a blow hole along the coastline. Or just relax on the covered deck, play some cards, board games, read a book, or enjoy a movie or two via the wireless internet on your computer or tablet. There are many mom and pop places to eat, including numerous food trucks, a brick oven pizza place, Thai food stop, other 'plate lunch' stops, and fresh organic fruit and veggie stands where much of the food is grown organically right here in Hana. There are two main general stores in town to get most of your basic necessities. If you want a large variety of food to choose from though it may be wise to get some provisions from the main part of the island before you head out to Hana. Our favorite food store on the island is Mana Foods, in the town of Pa'ia on the North Shore, where they're loaded with fresh, natural and organic grocery shopping, a deli, bakery and vitamin room. Although, we also frequent Hasegawa's General Store and the Hana Ranch Store in town during our stays. The road out to Hana itself is half the treat, with dramatic scenery of the cliff-lined coastline, a couple of fruit stands (including a mobile creperie along the road in the jungle as you begin your journey!), and lots of hikes from trail heads off the road. As with any adventuring please be cautious and aware of your surroundings and weather conditions while enjoying the outdoors. A tip for the drive out to Hana, pack a lunch with snacks and drinks, don't rush it, and pull over for faster drivers if they come up behind you. There are many pull-out spots, the drivers behind you will appreciate it, and you can relax and really soak in the beauty. There is one gas station in Hana town, and none along the 2-hour drive from the main towns on the other side of the island, so fill up before you get here. Hana is a tropical paradise, which means it has little critters like mosquitoes or ants at times, and don't be surprised by the odd chicken or two, mongoose, (cows, there's a beautiful working cattle ranch) or other wildlife in an around Hana town and the East side of the island. Our home is usually nice and breezy, and we have quarterly treatments of the outside and inside of the home with natural repellents, so there should be little activity of small critters, however, closing screen doors and cleaning up food after eating is always a good idea. We have some mosquito repellent there if you need it, just in case. And if you have any problems please let us know. Our location is very convenient to the beaches, sites and stops in Hana, with great views, and as can be seen from the photos and mapping, we are in a residential setting. There can be some typical neighborhood activity including traffic on Hana highway, neighboring pets / dogs occasionally barking or local chickens that roam freely. We have a large redwood fence along the rural road and plantings around the property to make you feel tucked away. We hope you enjoy your stay!!! The property is owned and co-managed by Brook Y. Starr, a Hawaii licensed realtor. Maui County Vacation Rental Permit: STHA 2015/0005 State Taxes ID: GE-004-392-3456-01 & TA-004-392-3456-01 (General Excise Tax and Transient Accommodations Tax) A car is necessary to get to, from and around Hana. *One item you might not have considered is the importance of travel insurance that covers a variety of situations, including, but not limited to, your rental expenses should you decide or need to cancel for reasons such as poor weather or leaving early for an emergency. In addition there are options for medical coverage during your trip. We urge all future guests to explore these available options. **Please note, we have security cameras on the outside of our buildings. ***As per our vacation rental permit, maximum occupancy is 2 people, including children over the age of two years old, per bedroom (or less). ****The home is wifi equipped for your convenience, however; cell and wifi signal can be intermittent at times.
