NOTE: The place does not have a kitchen. This little screened-in, open-air Hale is nestled in a native Ohia rainforest between Hilo & Pahoa. The Hale is completely off-the-grid, uses solar power (generator backup) and has rain catchment. Private outdoor bathroom & shower. Secure, covered parking. There is no kitchen and no refrigeration, there’s a small backpack stove and utensils plus a cooler to store all food - if your items are perishable, bring ice! NO Cigarette Smoking! Open air, screened in. Clean, comfortable, and total glamping! There is a short walk on an uneven surface from parking area to the cabin. I love socializing with my guests, and I totally respect their privacy. My responses are always prompt unless I am out of cell range, asleep, or surfing! Rural and off the beaten path. Close but quiet neighbors, dark starry night sky when cloudless, and secure (neighborhood watch group). Paved roads except for two dirt roads (manageable with a standard 4-door sedan vehicle). At 1,000 ft elevation so is cool (60-deg F) at night during winter months. Our Hale is ~25 minutes from Hilo Airport (ITO) and ~2 hours from Kona Airport (KOA). We are central to local attractions and surf spots in the Hamakua-Hilo-Pahoa area of the island's east side. Volcanoes National Park (30-min), Isaac Hale Beach Park (25-min), Honoli'i Beach Park (25-min), Uncle Robert's Wednesday night Awa Bar (40-min), Garden Temple Thursday night Ecstatic Dance (40-min), Hamakua Coast scenic attractions (40-min), Kahena Beach (35-min), scuba and snorkeling excursions (25 to 35-min), Richardson's Beach Park (25-min), and Mauna Kea exploration opportunities (~50-min). Recently, our city’s facilities and ability for recycling plastics have been cut - most plastic items will now end up in our already over-burdened landfill. PLEASE make an effort to not buy, use, and discard of plastic items when you are visiting Hawai’i, especially single-use plastics!! Mahalo!! What’s to see around the east side of Hawai’i Island.....hike lava fields on foot or view from the air; visit Hawaii Island’s newest black sand beach; you can also find: waterfalls, botanical gardens, alpine mountain summit activities, and ocean adventures - dive, snorkel, SUP, kayak, mountain bike, horseback ride in Waipi’o Valley, swim, and of course SURF!!
