The space We are located in the north, so we do not experience any VOG and are safe from volcanic activity, enjoying the best air quality year-round. The Mauna Kea Private Room has its own entrance and features a queen bed. It connects via a covered hallway to two shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen. The plantation house is now listed on the Historic Registry—truly a must-experience! You’ll get to enjoy indoor-outdoor living in this unique historic Hawaiian plantation house. To access the washrooms, you’ll walk outside, follow the walkway, and pass the koi pond, creating a beautiful and serene experience. This property offers a special and unique Hawaiian plantation house atmosphere. Because the house is a shared space, it is adults-only for guests aged 18 and over. It is not suitable for children or infants. Additionally, due to the stairs, it is not wheelchair accessible. Thank you for your understanding. We also have Uncle Jimmy living on the property for maintenance and security. While he doesn’t speak much English, he is there to assist if needed. The entire complex is also available for bookings, making it perfect for reunions, yoga retreats, or business workshops. Guest access The Hawaiian complex features a total of 5 private bedrooms. Your room ("Mauna Kea Room") has its own entrance. You can check in anytime between 4 PM and 9 PM using a code to access your room. The outdoor walkway is thoughtfully designed for good energy and feng shui, and it’s positioned away from the sleeping areas, making it quieter. You’ll get to enjoy an original historic plantation-style home - truly one of a kind. This unique charm is what made me fall in love with the property; homes like this are rare to experience today! Please review our photos to ensure everything is clear. My property manager, Uncle Jimmy, lives on the lower level of the property to assist with maintenance and security. If you have any questions, he’s available to help, though his English is limited. Make sure you know which room you booked when checking in. We are located next to the police and fire stations. While calls are infrequent -about once every three months—you might occasionally hear their intercom at night. However, having them next door provides added safety. Being in town, there is some street noise, but the location is highly convenient. Like many Hawaiian-style homes, the walls are thin. We provide earplugs, but if you are sensitive to noise, consider our Zen House or Zen Cottage. These are private, separate structures offering more tranquility for a slightly higher price. However, if you're looking to save money, this rental offers great value and an excellent location. On the property, you’ll find tables and lounge chairs for sunbathing near the banana and coconut trees. We also have macadamia nuts, tangerines, soursop, and lychee trees, giving you a genuine Hawaiian experience! Parking options include two guest spaces at the back, two on the side of the house, and free street parking. To ensure everyone has a pleasant stay, please respect the quiet hours from 9 PM to 9 AM. This is a truly unique Hawaiian home where you can experience a piece of history. Mahalo!
