You will have the main house to yourself in Rockport in a residential neighborhood, near town, where you can walk to everything: Front Beach, Bearskin Neck, Millbrook Pond, shops, commuter rail to Boston, are all a 5 to 10 min walk. In the yard, you can play croquet on the vast lawn. Our house captures the amazing light in this area, which has inspired many artists to paint in this historic seaside village. Maybe it will inspire the artist in you. The space Our circa 1890 home is clean, airy and bright. Downstairs is a fully equipped kitchen with a new Bosch dishwasher, a half bath and a washer/dryer. The breakfast bar has seating for two for casual meals that opens into a family room with a flat screen 40-inch TV to stream your favorite services. A separate living room/library has comfy chairs for reading, with books and info on the many things to see and do on Cape Ann. Steep stairs lead upstairs to the two bedrooms and an office, which has a monitor and wireless keyboard for you to plug in your laptop, on a small desk. A full bath has a shower over a tub. We have a large, fenced-in yard where birds frequently visit our trees in the spring and summer months. Part of the yard is shared with our quiet tenant, who has a basement apartment in the back of the house. Guest access Parking is street parking on our block, which is very easy. We recommend that you walk to the center of town, where parking gets more difficult in the summer and is metered. Each beach on Cape Ann has its own parking rules and should be checked before leaving in the car, as some require residential parking stickers, or in the case of Good Harbor, has a large public parking lot that fills up early in the summer (there is also a bus to Good Harbor from the Rockport commuter train station, a few minutes walk from our home). Other things to note We have one window air conditioning unit in the main bedroom in the summer. Every room has corner windows with screens, for the cool ocean cross breezes that Rockport enjoys. On the rare occasion that temperatures climb into the 90s, we also have portable fans for each bedroom and downstairs. We have fully equipped kitchen, with some items for you, such as a package of French Roast ground coffee for a drip coffee maker, and a French press coffee maker, olive oil and some spices for cooking, oatmeal, and a few condiments. There is a market within walking distance of our house for other items. We also recommend driving to the supermarket for a bigger grocery run. Our house is a Victorian-era Cape home and has a few quirks, but we hope you will love it as much as we do. We are near a busy street so there is street noise and you can also sometimes hear the train coming and going and idling in the nearby station.
