Permitted B&B (permit #BBPH 2012/0003) (TA-081-977-3440-01) in newly-built bamboo home in tropical upcountry Haiku offers a queen bed, private bathroom, kitchenette, lanai, and carport. Self-serve breakfast at your own time on your private lanai with ocean and garden view of God's beautiful creation. Mostly quiet Christian refuge with birds singing, wild chickens crowing (earplugs!), raindrops! No TV or AC. No smokers, drugs,or heavy alcohol. Mahalo! Bamboo Heaven Maui is a permitted bed & breakfast, #BBPH 2012/0003 so you can be assured your room is secure for your reservation. Our rooms are unique and inviting with their high, bamboo-studded ceilings and tropical bamboo woven walls that make you feel like you are truly /on a Hawaiian vacation! The 2 private rooms, the Omaomao (Green) Room and the Polu (Blue) Room can be rented together for groups and families, or separately for couples. I also have a fold-out twin bed for an extra guest at an additional $20 a night. Please check for availability on separate listings. My rooms are supplied with linens, towels, beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, iron & ironing board, hangers, blow dryer, shower cap, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, after-sun lotion, insect repellant, lawn games, dishes, cookware, silverware, utensils, microwave, fridge, coffemaker, kettle, toaster, hotplate, filtered water, composter. Breakfast items include island coffee, island teas, hot chocolate, oatmeal, dry cereal, local fruit juices, butter, jelly, frozen waffles, pancake mix, and seasonal fruits from our yard and market. I live in this home, but you have your own private space, entry, lanai, and carport. I am a local girl born and raised right on this property. I would love to answer any questions you have about our island, and recommend places to see and things to do. If you like, I would love to pray and fellowship with you, as God leads. If you prefer privacy, please let me know, so I am not overly-friendly. Haiku is the neighborhood I grew up in. I love it! It is a small but growing community with still a lot of the old local families I know, and a lot of new neighbors moving in. We have a variety of restaurants from Japanese and Thai to American, Hawaiian, Vegetarian, Mexican, food trucks with Indian and Mediterranean food, and a Kombucha Bar with raw foods! There is a grocery store, a post office, hardware store, thrift shop, gift shop, pet shop, coffee shop, hair and nail salon, fitness center, massage. We are the home of Haleakala Bike Company, where you can ride a bike down from Haleakala Crater back to Haiku. Another popular activity here is to watch the sunrise over Haleakala Crater. This is a good location to do that from. It is about a 1 1/2 hr. drive up to the crater, but allow 2 hours for traffic. So you will be setting your alarm to wake up about 3:30 am! A new rule has just been enforced, and you need to make a reservation ahead of time to see the sunrise! Only 150 cars are allowed in each morning, and it is already booked up! Make your reservations now! Haiku is on the tropical side of the island, which means beautiful rainbows, flowers and plants, green grass, fruit trees, and cool tradewinds. It is 5 minutes away from beautiful beaches and surf spots, yet away from the tourist traps on Maui! Don't forget to hang with the 50+ turtles that swim to shore at sunset, 5 min. away! Twin Falls with its beautiful waterfalls and pools is less than 15 min. away, if you like to hike. The famous Jaws where surfers ride 30' waves is just 10 min. away! If you love to shop, Paia & Makawao towns are filled with interesting shops, art galleries, and restaurants, and just minutes away from Haiku. Come stay in Haiku, and be among the locals to experience the real Hawaii!! There is a local bus transit a few minutes away from our home that will take you to every town on the island. However, we recommend you rent a car to save time, and to get to those places the bus does not go. When you make your request, please tell me about yourself, and who is coming with you (husband, wife, child and age). Also, please tell me your travel times so I know your check-in and check-out times. Mahalo!
