We are just a ten minute drive to Hilo's beaches and 25 minutes to Volcano National Park. Just 2 miles from town; Not near public transport. Car required. Studio Suite is a large, bright, spacious, sunny, comfortable studio, a great choice for budget travelers who want to stay in a quiet, quality neighborhood, and within two miles of Hilo town and it's amenities. The unit is like the second unit of a duplex…. Attached to the other unit, but separate. Fully private, with private entrance. This is a quiet area, and might not delight those of you who want to be near nightlife, the city, or public transportation. Hilo has many other great listings if this does not work for you. Please read this entire description so you so you will know what to expect, as this will help ensure that you enjoy your stay. Hostess works and may not be able to respond immediately to your texts. "Office hours" are from 3:00 - 7:00 pm daily. This is a no smoking/vaping/illicit drugs unit. If you do choose to smoke outside on the balcony that's fine, but we ask that you do not smoke from 5:00 am to 6:00 am each morning. You may not see the hosts during your stay, or you might see us around the house or doing yard work. Please know that whether we meet you or not, you are very welcome here, and we love a friendly hello. Treasure Studio has a feeling of being far from town, but is just minutes from eateries, amenities, shops and attractions. It's perfect for nature lovers, or guests who want to get away from it all. This lovely large studio apartment is bright, with a lot of natural light flowing in. It is clean and comfortable. A new air conditioner has recently been added for your comfort in the tropics. The balcony is a dreamy place to watch time pass by. Guests have all said it looks even better in person than in pictures. Guests have also described the mattress on the queen bed as firm. We offer the best Wi-Fi speed and service that the island offers. This site has an open floor plan regarding the bathroom. There is no door on the shower, nor around the shower space. Therefore, if you want absolute privacy from your travel mate while you shower, please choose a different listing. The efficiency kitchen is in a separate room. It has a microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, conduction cooktop with two burners (not a traditional stove), and refrigerator. There is no conventional oven. Kitchen is appropriate for making quick, basic meals, but NOT IDEAL FOR BAKING, or for making fancy, gourmet meals. If you feel determined to bake, you may want to purchase some supplies for that purpose. (There is a Target about 2 miles away that has just about everything.) But why bake, when you could be at the beach, instead? So, here are some highlights, to restate what is NOT offered: NO heating (not needed) NO dishwasher NO baking supplies NO fancy cooking equipment NO laundry facilities So back to what IS offered... A Laundromat is within five miles of our studio. Studio is a completely separate, private unit, one of two units of a house that has been divided into two distinct units. All adjoining walls have insulation for your privacy and peace of mind. Unit sits on 1/2 acre property, and is excellent for relaxation. The neighborhood is charming, secluded, quiet, with dogs at most neighbor homes. There are only about 8 homes in the surroundings. We provide snorkel gear -- so we hope you like the water! You're only a short distance from some nice beaches. The location is also perfect for visiting the mountains and volcanoes, as well as for birding--if you're into that! And it's an easy freeway drive to Kona from here. Please bring a flashlight, or app on your phone; the area is very dark at night -- no streetlights. That makes it perfect for star gazing! If you go out at night-leave the balcony light on for your safe return. We'll also try to leave outdoor safety lights on for you. If you book in the cooler months, October through April, consider bringing a light jacket, as the nights can be cool. House is situated in the only tropical rain forest in the United States. The forest is not silent…it brings its own noises and can sound a little creepy if you are not accustomed to it. Occasionally, you may hear wild pigs, and hunters might come to hunt them. Since it is in the rain forest, you can expect to find little critters such as lizards and frogs in close proximity to the house, and in the general vacinity. (They are very rarely found inside the house. Yay!). The coqui frogs sing you lullabies at night, and happy birds cheer your awakening in the mornings. Some feral chickens/roosters have made their way into the neighborhood, and can often be seen and heard. Come join the symphony in the rainforest! First of all, a car is required. Uber does not work well for this location. Trust me. Guests have tried uber. It doesn't work out. Parking is at the top of the driveway, on the right, designated by a small sign that says "aloha." Access to the unit: head to the front side of the house, facing the road, and go through the gate to a pebble/concrete path, up the balcony, to the door at the end of the balcony. Please make sure you are not parked right next to this front entry gate. Keep that entry way clear. First and foremost, we never want to intrude on your privacy. We respect our guests' autonomy. Because of self check in, you usually won’t see us when you arrive. But we’re always happy to say hello if we do chance upon you. Now, since covid, we will limit our meeting with others, and keep our meetings short and purposeful. Our friendly spirit and welcoming heart is always with you. : ) We hope guests find the accommodations comfortable. It is best for guests to email or text through Airbnb if you have questions, concerns during your stay. Best time to contact hostess ("office hours") is 3:00pm to 8:00 pm, via text, or the Airbnb message system. We encourage guests to "snoop" around the studio to find things. Things are easily located with a little looking. This could save you the trouble of contacting, and waiting for a reply, as I may not respond to messages immediately while I'm teaching. Unit is in a beautiful, quiet, secluded neighborhood, and there are no streetlights, therefore, it is quite dark. Please consider having a flashlight app on your phone. Most neighbors are quiet, friendly, with pet dog(s). All services, necessities, shops, and entertainment are a minimum of 2 miles away. A car is a requirement here. We are not near public transport, and uber is not a choice that will work. Do yourself the favor of knowing this beforehand, and plan to rent a car. All guests who did not follow this advice ended up renting a car after one day of uber. Trust us. We're trying to help you here. Really. Unit is located in a rain forest, so you may encounter small visitors (like lizards) or conditions (like vog) that occur as a natural result of being on a volcanic island. There are feral roosters in the neighborhood that you may hear crow. WiFi reality: we have the best service, fastest speed that provider offers. The service is good. However, Weather may interfere with connection, speed. Don't expect to stream four devices at once, please. Sorry, No refunds given for this matter. This is just part of island life. We have great beaches! We use solar water heating here. The tank is home size, not commercial size. Taking long hot showers can result in a wait time before there is more hot water. We recommend short shower times to avoid hot water issues. Dogs may bark as you enter or leave the property, but do not typically interfere with sleep, or with your stay. The closest stores, shops and amenities are about 2 miles away.
