Zen House in Forest & Bamboo - 10 mins to Town!

A spacious 1,300 sq. ft. 1-bedroom private duplex with an en suite bathroom, this peaceful retreat offers a quiet space to rejuvenate in nature. It’s conveniently located just 11 mins from historic Honokaa town. Situated north, you can easily visit either side of the island, Kona or Hilo, and it's just 25 mins from Waipio Valley, the 2nd most visited spot on the island, known for its black sand beach. Enjoy a unique, custom-built house surrounded by lush jungle, bamboo, a pergola, and a geodome. The space We are located in the north of the Big Island, so we don’t experience any VOG (volcanic smog) and are safe from volcanic activity, enjoying the best air quality year-round. The space is unique, featuring mid-century Asian cabinets and a variety of Asian antiques, including a large Buddha at the entrance for positive energy. You’ll have restful sleep with cooler night temperatures, accompanied by the sounds of wild birds and animals. The bedroom has an en suite and a view of the zen courtyard. There’s a full kitchen with a new oven, microwave, and a full-size fridge. The entertainment room has a queen-size memory foam bed, and the lower area is ideal for yoga and meditation. It’s my favorite place to write and rejuvenate. The main road is one of Lance Armstrong's top five biking spots in the world (as mentioned in one of his posts), so you might see occasional bike tours. There are many nearby coffee farms and orchards. VIP guests often stay on retreat to write or connect with nature, so please respect quiet hours from 10pm to 8am to ensure a peaceful experience for all. The house is a duplex, sharing a wall with the other side, but you’ll have the entire rental, all private, with your own entrance. There’s also a cottage across the courtyard, and if you'd like to book the entire retreat center for events, please let us know. Keep in mind, like many Hawaii homes, the walls are thin due to the mild climate, so sound can travel, similar to a hotel. However, you're getting a one-of-a-kind zen house for half the price of a hotel. Our property manager lives on-site and is available if you need assistance. Simply enter the code, manually turn the lock to the right, and push the door open. To lock it, press the code and turn the lock to the left. The house offers free WiFi, private parking, a 4K smart TV, and a fully equipped kitchen with pots, pans, and dishes. Please note, we do not recommend children under 12 unless they are well-behaved and can respect the quiet hours from 10pm-8am to ensure consideration for other guests on retreat. Other things to note We often have VIP guests stay on retreat to write their books or connect with nature. Hawaii's warm climate year-round means we don’t need insulation in our walls; however, they are thin, so you might hear some noise.
