Description

Nature camping at an old farm. This land was a farm, built by Arthur Walston, my great grandfather. It fed his father and his twelve children, who helped create and influence the area. My father was born and raised in the house next to the campsite. It’s a piece of history with a lot of sentimental value to our family. This land is no longer a fully functioning farm but crops are still grown here and it’s home to cows, donkeys and wild animals. The space We call it nature camping since there is no electric power and no water available. You need a self-contained trailer or motorhome with your own bathroom and used water tanks. It is a real country adventure with no amenities. This land is home to wild animals, including wild hogs, deer, venomous snakes, turkeys and a large variety of birds. Our Jack and Jill donkey couple can be loud at times. They could wake you. The whole terrain is uneven so you have to watch your step like you would in any wilderness. And this is the best word to describe what you will find there - wilderness. Bring your mountain bikes, your fishing gear, your boots or even your hunting rifle. Go out into the woods and explore, go to our private pond and fish, stroll along the pasture and watch the cows graze, try and identify the red, blue and different predator birds. Whatever you do, don't forget that you are on your own. Cows can be very fast and they are strong, so keep your distance, especially if there are calves on the pasture. And never forget it is the wilderness, you are responsible for all your actions. Please take all your trash with you as you would in any other natural environment. We have installed a picnic table on a platform. You are welcome to use it. Park your camper next to the table and enjoy our beautiful land. Even if you are in the wilderness there are places worth visiting in the area. Lake Claiborne is only 30 minutes away. Homer has a few nice restaurants and all the stores you need. Minden is 45 minutes and Shreveport is only 1 hour and 20 minutes away. There is no safety net. If children play in the grass they can always encounter a snake. The guest/camper is fully responsible. Thank you for respecting our place. Leave nothing but your footprints.
