"The Cockpit" is a freshly restored historic cottage built in 1899 on a lovely shelled street with very little traffic. The house has a lovingly tended garden, a front porch, a spacious outdoor shower, and off-street parking. It is just a short walk to Siasconset village, where the Sconset Market and nearby restaurants are situated. It is also just a three-minute walk to a private beach entrance! Come and relax in this quaint and adorable cottage, ideally located in 'Sconset on the far eastern side of Nantucket. The house has three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a kitchen with the most beautiful appliances, including Sub Zero refrigerator drawers, a Wolf gas range, and an English Shaw sink. We also have a blender, Kitchenaid mixer, and other gourmet cooking equipment so that you can enjoy a nice meal at home. That said, we are also a short walking distance from all of the restaurants in 'Sconset and a 7-mile bus or car ride to Nantucket. There are cable TVs in the living room and main bedroom and wireless internet throughout the property. We have a washer and dryer and an outdoor clothesline to dry your clothes with the fresh Nantucket air! Our outdoor shower is also beautiful and features an antique soapstone sink just right for washing off a fish, should you be lucky enough to catch one! We also have a grill that you are welcome to use and an outdoor dining area for six people. There is enough space for two vehicles in the driveway. Finally, there's no better way to start your day than on our little front porch with a hot cup and a fresh sea breeze! Guests have access to the entire house, yard, and garage. The garage holds beach equipment, trash, and incidental storage for guests. Please do not delve deep into the garage...things could fall on you. The garage is used and accessed by the owner for storage and gardening equipment. We are always available through the Airbnb App, by text, and by phone. Our cottage is located on Pochick Street, widely considered one of the most beautiful streets in 'Sconset! The white shell street is lined with other Underhill cottages, all beautifully maintained. All cabins have either beautiful gardens, window boxes, and logistics. 'Sconset is a very walkable historic village. The famous Sconset Chapel, the post office, and the "book store" (stocked with the most excellent wine and spirits :)) are all within close walking distance. If you wish to visit other parts of the island, the local NRTA Wave bus stop is about five minutes walking distance. Given the excellent public transportation, the accessibility of Uber/Lyft, and the bike paths that cover the entire island, it is straightforward to visit Nantucket without a car. 1. Please understand that you must back into the driveway for better access and to prevent damage to neighbor's hedges and fences. 2. Maintainance teams may need to tend to the property during your stay. This includes gardening, rose care, twice-week rubbish, and recycling pick-up. 3. We can not host pets on the property or in the house. Any animal visit will be considered a breach of the contract.
