The property is private and peaceful, about a mile from Hawi town, 10 minutes to epic swimming , and 10 minutes to Kohala Hospital. Visit the Farmers Market on Saturday morning and bring some local fruits and veggies back to prepare your farm fresh meal in the perfect country kitchen. Don't want to cook? Enjoy one of our local coffee shops or restaurants. The house has a wonderful outdoor shower and also an indoor shower and bathroom. There are many off the beaten track hikes in North Kohala and you can swim off Mahukona pier ten minutes down the road. The island's best beaches are a half hour drive, as are world class resorts and restaurants. The property also encompasses the Natural Farming Learning Lab, which is a training site and home for a non-profit farm that grows taro, vegetables, fruits, pigs and chickens. You can feel free to wander around the property—check out the farm, swing from the banyan trees, pick fruit and flowers, etc. Generally, I am assuming that you want your privacy and I want mine. North Kohala is one of the most beautiful places on earth and has a warm and diverse community. The property is on an agricultural road with quite a few farms. We are only about a mile from town, where you can enjoy great shops and restaurants. Grab some organic lettuce or GMO free papaya at one of the farm stands on the road on your way. It is easy to jump back on the main road for a trip to the ocean—10 minutes if you want to jump in at Mahukona or 25 minutes to get to the best beaches on the island. Public transport on the Big Island is not very convenient or available. Renting a car on the Big Island is necessary (unless you LOVE to hitchhike). The optimal guests are people who enjoy a down-to-earth country experience. The property is beautiful and is a combination of wild, manicured and farm areas.
