With indoor and outdoor seating and dining spread across almost 1/4 acre of gardens, our 2 bedroom/2 bath/large lanai plantation-style cottage provides relaxing access to all of Kauai, just minutes from the gorgeous beaches of Poipu, Old Koloa town, and the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Endowed with the great light and breezes of the tropics, the cottage flows from comfortable bedrooms and a spacious full bath to a well-equipped open kitchen and art-filled living area with a pull-out queen sofa, to the front lanai with comfy seating, dining for 6 and an all-tile lanai second bath. Then step out into the large, professionally landscaped yard with tropical flowers and fruit trees, and a third shower, private and perfect for that refreshing cleanse after beach or hike. The stainless-steel gas range, refrigerator and dishwasher, as well as the full-sized washer and dryer, are all new within the past few years. There is plenty of parking in front of the house reserved for our guests. NEW for our guests, we now offer access to the wonderful Poipu Beach Athletic Club, just minutes from the cottage and across the street from Poipu Beach. A full service club, PBAC offer a “nature scape” 25 meter pool with a water slide, machine and free weights, cardio machines, TRX, a variety of classes, and a full restaurant and bar. The cottage received a positive review in the Frommer's Guidebook for Kauai: "A renovated old plantation house in the heart of Koloa, this two-bedroom/two-bathroom home, surrounded by tropical gardens, is for the traveler who wants a “real” Hawaii experience living in a residential area, like a local resident. A whimsical tropical cottage, the entry is through a plant-filled, outdoor lanai, where you will find you will spend all your time — just like Hawaii residents. The house has a full kitchen, smart TV, washer and dryer, barbecue, and everything you can think of to make your vacation. Just a mile and a half to the beach and walking distance to Koloa town’s shops and restaurants." In addition to serving as our second home, the cottage is a vacation rental authorized under Kauai County Code, TVRNCU#1090. Guests are free to use the entire house and all within! Please be mindful that electricity, gas and fresh water are scarce resources on the island of Kauai and are, accordingly, expensive. Mahalo for making wise use! While we live off island and enjoy the cottage and Kauai as much as we can, we do have a friend, Guy, who will be your on-island host. We will make contact with you in advance of your arrival to provide necessary instructions and to answer any questions. Five minutes by car brings you to a long stretch of Poipu beaches, where you can safely swim, surf, boogie board, snorkel, and enjoy scenic hikes that connect one beach to the other. A short walk from the cottage brings you to Old Koloa Town, the buildings of a former sugar plantation that now contain restaurants and shops. Koloa also offers a gas station, a bank, two grocery stores, and a great fish market with an assortment of that day's fresh catch and lots of delicious poke. And for exercise, more shopping and great eating and drinking options very nearby, don't miss The Poipu Beach Athletic Club, The Poipu Shopping Village or The Shops at Kukui'ula. Hiking enthusiasts can also drive to the spectacular Waimea Canyon, less than an hour away, and there is a public golf course about 1/2 mile from the house. "The Kauai Bus" comes down our street several times a day. For destinations and schedule, check the Kauai government website. Lily's Koloa Cottage Transient Accommodations Registration Identification Number is TA-078-239-1296-01. Hawaii law requires guests to pay the state’s and county’s sales and accommodations taxes in the approximate amount of 19% of the room and cleaning charges. That amount will be requested, and must be paid, prior to your arrival, through the "Resolutions Center" section of the Airbnb page. For parties of five, there is a twenty-five dollar ($25) per night additional charge.
