Big garden-level space in our home, accessed from the yard, with a bedroom w/ 2 big beds, nicely furnished, looks out at a lush yard on a small river gorge. Stairs from the yard lead down to a short trek to the stream where you may swim, with 3 waterfalls! NOTE: Hawaii GE-067-950-7968-02 & TA-067-950-7968-01 This is a hosted rental so per Hawaii County Planning Dept is therefore exempt from Hawaii County Bill 108 so we are able now to consider less than 30 day rentals as well as longer ones. Nicely furnished large (nearly 800 SF) one bedroom unit with both king and queen beds, so can very comfortably sleep up to 4, on a beautiful river gorge with nearby waterfall and swimming pond. You'll have a full bathroom with tub/shower, kitchenette (no full-size range), private patio, shared sauna, cable TV, DVR and Wi-Fi. Lush quiet surroundings, yet only 5 minutes to downtown Hilo. Windows look out at beautiful large, landscaped yard - like having your own private tropical rain forest. Parking available for one car only. For detailed directions and more information, please visit our blog at www. OurHiloHome.com or use Google Maps for directions. GPS may not be reliable on the island. The whole apartment, the shared laundry area in the garage (dryer is coin-op, washer is not) as well as access to bikes and snorkel gear and boogie boards in the garage, the rear patio with table and chairs and the huge back yard (and even the stairs leading down to the adjacent river gorge with waterfalls and area where one could swim). The river gorge is not on our property, swim at your own risk, of course. There is also a shared dry sauna available upstairs upon request. Electric costs in Hawaii are outrageous, so we may have to charge a small fee of $5 if you'd like to use the sauna. We live here now, so unless traveling, am right here to help guests, but always available to communicate by Airbnb message, text or phone as needed. We enjoy meeting guests, some have become good friends, but we can also totally respect your space, time and privacy as you wish. There are actually two connected homes on the property and wonderful long term tenants live in the original home on the property, including a very talented artist who is happy to show you her beautiful collection of her work. There are digital locks on the doors for your convenience to come anytime & detailed instructions once inside. Very quiet, peaceful neighborhood of full-time, well-established homes, mostly long-time residents are ethnic Japanese families. Only a mile or so to Scenic Drive where the island's best botanical gardens are located. Walk or bike to "Pinkie's Beach" or even to famous Honoli'i surf beach. Easy access to downtown Hilo only 5 minute, beautiful drive down the coastal highway. No real decent public transit anywhere on the island, so a car is really required to see the many, varied sights of the Big Island. Biking, walking or hitchhiking may be possible for longer stays when not touring the island, I suppose. Harper's Car Rental is a local company that rents cars of various types and ages for much less than the national companies at the airport, especially good for those staying longer periods. As mentioned above, the property actually consists of two lovely homes, connected by a covered lanai. We live in the original home while the newer, three level home is primarily for long term and short term guests. Please drive no more than 10 mph on Enoka Place, it’s a narrow, short private road with some elderly neighbors and loose animals. Thank you! Please also never park off the concrete. The gravel/paved road out front is actually an easement for our neighbors up the hill and can never be blocked. Thanks. The river and waterfall are a short walk away. It is not on our property, but access is allowed. We endeavor to keep the path clear of growth, but be advised this is Hawaii, things grow fast here! It is difficult to keep up. Also, if it has been raining a lot, the path will be muddy and slippery. It starts at a steep incline and then flat from there. Welcome to Hawaii, land of spectacular beauty that makes you work for it :) Like most of the Big Island, there are tiny, vociferous Coqui frogs that you will hear at night. It's the tropics, relax and enjoy their song! ;-) There may occasionally also be bugs, in the tropics that’s inevitable, but we do have monthly Terminix pest service inside and out, so it is rare in our place.
