"The Hula Room" is perfect for those who want their own private room, but are willing to share a kitchen and bath with other travelers for a reduced price. Fresh fruit and veggies from the land available when in season. Aloha ~*~ The space This unique property is surrounded by mature fruit trees and rainbow Eucalyptus and is next to 150 acres of Muku'u Forest Preserve. The 'Big Island Ohana Retreat' consists of five quaint cottages, all connected at their roofs and via covered decking. Two of the cottages house the bedrooms. All bedrooms have separate and individually keyed entries, so those traveling together can enjoy personal privacy and undisturbed rest when needed! This is our most unique and most valued feature! The Na Lei, Flowers, Aloha Shirt and Hula rooms, as well as the Sofa Bed all share a bathroom, the Slippers room has its own Private Bath. There are also 2 twin air mattresses available for extra guests. All guests share the kitchen, living room and sunroom space. This accommodates reduced room prices, as well a fun and interesting vacationing experience. Our tropical botanical nursery is full of gorgeous plants, flowers and fruit trees. Our green house and gardens are filled with veggies, greens, native plants and medicinal herbs. We use bio-dynamic farming techniques that create a harmonious balance on the land......You'll feel it ~*~ Guest access Guests have their own private driveway entrance and access to the guest gardens and spa area, as well as the entire shared living space. Reusable micro-fiber washcloths are available for guests to use. The five cottages are all connected by decking & railings, forming a small courtyard in the center that serves as a meditation garden and peaceful sight when you exit your room each morning before gathering for breakfast! The outer sides of the cottages are flanked by lush tropical landscaping ~ including fruit trees... orange, lime, grapefruit, avocados, coconut, papaya, lychee mulberry, rollinia, mountain apple, and breadfruit. Another feature guests particularly enjoy: the property attracts many birds, which you will hear singing throughout the daytime; and hosts a night-time coqui-frog chorus to lull you to sleep! Coquis are very small nocturnal frogs that live in surrounding foliage, and are found throughout the Big Island. You may never see one (except via flashlight), but the males have a very sweet mating call at night~ There are 2 eating areas; a dining room that seats 6, plus the very nearby screened lanai with its amply-sized patio table, providing additional seating for 4. The living room and lanai coffee tables can easily accommodate two more for groups of 11-12 that may want to have a meal at the same time. Additionally, for out-door food prep; there is a kettle BBQ and lounge chairs for use. * Coals and lighter fluid are provided by the guests.
