Welcome to the Ohana at Volcanoes National Park, the first Volcano Airbnb to reach 1,000 reviews, now over 1400! You get sightseeing recommendations, driving tour routes, and travel advice with your reservation. We're happy to answer all your questions about this amazing island. We don't charge a cleaning fee! We're four minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park! Ohana: noun. Hawaiian. 1) Family. 2) Guesthouse. Explore the big island with your ohana at our ohana, a rainforest guesthouse. The space Detached 600 square-foot guest house (no shared interior spaces, no shared walls) with its own private entry and dedicated off-street parking space: one cozy bedroom with two queen beds that have Casper mattresses, full bathroom, kitchen/living room with sofa-bed. HygroCotton towels. Feather/down pillows, memory foam pillows, and poly-fill pillows. Our guesthouse is part of our home so we're not affecting the local housing market, and all proceeds stay local. Guest access You get the whole guest house; called an "ohana" in Hawaii. You have your own parking space right next to the door. Other things to note TRAVEL ADVICE: We give you sightseeing recommendations for the park and the whole island, travel advice, driving tour directions, and links to the NPS app and volcano status. We will happily answer any travel questions you have and help you plan your trip! CANCELLATION POLICY: Please be sure you understand the cancellation policy before booking. You can see the cancellation policy at the bottom of this listing. Please also understand that hosts don't handle your money, that's all done by Airbnb itself. LUGGAGE DROP-OFF, EARLY CHECK-IN, and DOOR CODE: We don't allow guests to drop off luggage before the check in time. But if we can clean early, you can check in early, we'll let you know. We will send you the code on the day you arrive after the previous guests have left. RATES: We use a dynamic pricing system, so the price varies depending on things like day of the week, season, and special events. Because nightly rates are variable check your dates. It's not a flat rate like Airbnb suggests. CLEANING: The house is cleaned for you on the day of your arrival and on the fourth day of your reservation, if applicable. LINEN: Freshly cleaned linens and towels are provided for you on the day of your arrival and on the fourth day of your reservation, if applicable. COFFEE and TEA: There is complementary coffee, a selection of teas, sugar, sweetener, and creamer by the coffee maker in the kitchen. CHILD EQUIPMENT: There are two highchairs and child dinnerware in the house. We will provide a pack 'n play upon request. There are also books, toys and games in the house. MAP CENTER: The map center has maps of the island and park. DVD MOVIES: There is a DVD player, screen, and a selection of movies on disc. There is no cable or broadcast TV. WIFI: ~100Mbps. GROCERIES: If you will be staying a while and doing any cooking, you should get groceries in Kona or Hilo before arriving. There are two local general stores, but their selection is limited, and the prices are higher. WATER: The house is on a catchment water system with four-step filtration and treatment including UV-sterilization, so the tap water is safe to drink. RAIN: We get 9 FEET (2.7 METERS) of rain annually, so when it's really rainy the house can get musty, despite our best efforts, and that is true everywhere in Volcano Village. There is cedar paneling throughout, so the house can smell like cedar. MATTRESS COVERS: All mattresses, box springs, and bed pillows have covers that are bug-proof and allergen-proof. EXTRA GUESTS: There are three beds, so the house holds six adults. We can allow up to two extra guests at $20 per guest per night. In addition, we can provide one extra twin-sized bed at an additional charge of $20 per night for parties over six people. The extra bed takes up considerable space, requiring some other furniture to be removed or repositioned. There is no charge for use of the pack 'n play. LOCAL ECONOMY: We live here, not on the mainland. All proceeds are income for our family and boost the local economy. HOUSE RULES: Do not move furniture around or take it outside. Do not smoke inside. Do not drape wet towels or clothes over wooden furniture. We do not tolerate illegal activities. We do not accept third-party bookings. TAXES: State General Excise Tax (GET Pass-through, 4.71%), State Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT, 10.25%), Hawaii County Transient Accommodations Tax (HCTAT, 3%), and a tax processing fee (2.04%) are assessed at checkout. "The Ohana at Volcanoes National Park" is a registered trade name for this fully licensed hosted transient accommodation operated by Caldera LLC. ETHICS: We are LGBTQ friendly, and welcome any nationality, political affiliation, color, race, gender, or orientation. Registration number TA-173-775-8720-01
