There are no extra fees to stay in my beautiful 1927 cottage. It has hardwood floors throughout and is small town Americana at its best. Stroll to the movies, dinner, or a tavern. On I-90 minutes from Billings and 45 miles to Red Lodge's skiing and hiking. Self catering. Sleeps up to 8. No additional fees for cleaning, pet, or additional guest. Room 1 is bright and cheery. It has a wonderful walk in closet with a small three paned window for light. The room features a queen sized bed with a lovely white lacquered headboard with brass accents. You will also find two antique chairs and an antique dressing table and mirror. Built in 1927 by a local railroad employee, Laurel Ties has it's roots, literally, in railroad history. While the basement of the home was hand dug by local boys, support timbers for the home are actual railroad bridge timbers. The 20's were a time of change, reflected in its architecture. Original cast iron gilded light fixtures, crystal glass door knobs, rich colors and hardwood floors of my home show the craftsmanship and style of the era. While updating I tried to find vintage style fixtures and furnishings to keep the feeling strong. It's three bedrooms and 1.5 baths comfortably fit 6 people, 8 if a couple want to bunk in the living room. In addition to a private bedroom, guests have a shared kitchen, living room and bathroom. The shared fenced back yard with cement patio is a great place for warm summer evenings. The stairs to the attic as well as the attic itself are off limits, as is the basement. Any bedroom not your own is also off limits, as well as the garage/carriage house in back and the VW beetle parked on the patio. I love Montana and am excited to share what I know with you. From shopping to hiking, camping and fishing, I probably have a suggestion for you. Or if you want to sit and visit, play music and share stories, I'm up for that too. I live a short drive away, but work in town and will pop in to check on how you are getting along and tend to the house, but I will respect your privacy. Laurel Ties is in a great location. One block north is the post office, a large convenience store, deli, laundromat, public pool and Thompson Park. Three blocks south is the movie theater and Town Square where community activities are held year round. The home is located along the parade route for the annual Laurel 4th of July parade, and just a short walk to Thompson Park will take you to the many Independence Day activities and a great viewing site for the fireworks. Several churches of various denominations are also within walking distance. From Billings Logan Airport take 27th Street south to I-90. Travel west on I-90 until you reach the Laurel/Red Lodge exit, Exit 434. Turn north on First Ave. Laurel Ties is located on the north east corner of First Ave. and 5th Street. On street parking is permitted in front of and beside the home. You may also park in the driveway at the rear. There is limited public transportation in Laurel. Inquire at City Hall. There is a blow dryer in the bathroom and an iron and ironing board in the mud room. A small sewing kit is located in the kitchen for quick repairs. A free, one time per registered guest visit to a local gym is available on request.
