Need a personal chef? We are not a bed and breakfast, but we do offer you the option of hiring a personal chef through us to cook meals for you during your stay. Please inquire in advance for rates and meal requests. Mahalo (thank you) for your interest! If our calendar says we're booked, send us a message and we may be able to set you up in one of our other cottages for the same rate. Pahala village has many amenities, including three food stores, a CVS pharmacy, a gym with weight room, lap swimming pool and tennis courts, a library, a hospital, and a health clinic. The village is surrounded by macadamia and coffee orchards, ranches, forest, and Hawai`i's longest uninhabited coastline. Nearby villages have both local and upscale dining, a bakery, and farmers markets. They offer additional activities of many different skill and interest levels. Some local attractions include Punalu`u Black Sand Beach, home to frequent sea turtle sightings, only a 6 minute drive away, and Whittington Beach Park and Honu`apo, with its fishponds and relic pier. Twenty-eight miles to the south, there are the Ka Lae cliffs and South Point, the southernmost place in the U.S. Hike to one of the world’s only olivine, green sand beaches, Papakolea. Up the slopes of Mauna Kea, Wood Valley Temple, where the Dalai Lama has visited, is six miles away. Ka`u Coffee Mill is a great mid-point place to stop on your way up Wood Valley Road for coffee and macadamia nut tasting, to watch the roasting and processing, and to tour the farm. The big attraction, Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park, surrounds the town. The eastern section of the park, with the volcano caldera, begins less than 13 miles away on Hwy 11 to the north east. The western Kahuku section is on Hwy 11, just beyond Ocean View. Reach us through Hilo or Kona airports on Hawai`i Island. Hawai`i Island is not known for its public transportation, so a rental car or bicycle (for experienced cyclists only) is definitely recommended. Our properties offer no-reservation, fee-free parking for all guests.
