This home is conveniently located in the center of town close to restaurants and shops. There are 7 beds with an additional queen air mattress. It's interior is a little dated, but everything is very clean and we offer a pretty fair rate for the occupancy potential of The Bear's Den. Our space is perfect for large groups and family vacations with lots of space and private lot. Enjoy some of the BEST views in town right on the front porch too! T.V.s, WiFi, Coffee, Soaps... We have it all. The Bear's Den enters on the second floor. There is a back door that has only 3 steps up to the entry door. There is no access to the garage and no use of the fireplace in the living room allowed. You are welcome to use the outdoor fire pit and wood is provided. There are 3 bedrooms with 7 beds. The living room and each bedroom has a T.V. with roku (web-based video streaming). please be advised with the ring system and the Alexa present in the cabin the WiFi won't be great for performing important work or many zoom meetings. WiFi can be unreliable at times. The outside space is great for enjoying a fire, stargazing or playing hide-and-go-seek. The parking area is huge, so it can fit extra vehicles or trailers. If you want to plug in a trailer it is an extra $30 per day. Trailer parking with no hook up is $10 per day. Everything you'll need can be found right off the Highway 212 and most places are with in walking distance. You can get to Cooke from either direction, through Yellowstone National Park exiting the North East Gate or by using Beartooth Highway and/or Chief Joseph Highway. You can find ATVs to rent in town and drive out onto trails surrounding the tiny city. Horseback rides are also available nearby. We live in town and town is very small, we can come help you in a jiff. Call our landline if you need something. Please be prepared for the area and note that there is no cell phone service in this tiny town, or with in about 50 miles each direction. Roads surrounding the area close seasonally. Please be sure you know your route and that it is open. The snow usually doesn't stop falling until late late or even June sometimes and starts falling in Cooke mid to late September, sometimes early October. Don't let the word "city" mislead you. It is a very rural area where we let the wild plants and grasses grow tall. There is a lot of wildlife; you might get to see bison, moose, bears, deer, foxes, owls... We suggest bear spray for hiking in the area. If there is bear spray in the cabin it was left by a previous guest. We are not sure if it has been used or not but you are welcome to borrow it. We assume no responsibility over the bear spray and it's ability to protect you. During the summer months, the city is bustling with tourism. Plenty of restaurants and shops are open long hours. There is not a traditional grocery store in Cooke City. The closest grocers are in Cody, WY and Gardiner, MT. However, there are some places you can find common grocery items in town: Sweet Pea Grocery and Gifts, The General Store and Exxon. Located 4 miles East of the north east entrance to Yellowstone National Park and surrounded by National Forests, this town is an ultimate retreat into nature. There are a ton of trails to hike or rent ATVs for in the summer. The trails are surrounded by and often lead to rivers, lakes, creeks, and water falls. The residents are usually very friendly and helpful. There is also a neat historical museum at the Visitor Center. Plenty more information about the area can also be found there. Sweet Pea Grocery and Gifts, and Stop the Car are two little shops worth stopping in on. Keep an eye out for some local artist galleries and crafters too! During the summer all the shops and restaurants are open as well as the amazing scenic Beartooth Highway. If you visit in summer don't miss Pilot's Perk or Sylvia's Sweet Shoppe! Yum! The house is about 4 miles from the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. There is no public transportation in this area. No Uber that we know of, you will need to rent a car. There are many local guides. The road east of Cooke closes during winter and in inclement weather during the summer. Hwy 296 is usually open when 212 is closed from Red Lodge during bad weather. Wildlife is common in this area. Never place your trash outside, call us to pick it up for you. Please keep your coolers inside the house or locked cars. Always keep an extra eye out for bison, deer, moose, foxes, coyote, wolves, neighborhood dogs etc. Cooke is a super wild area.
