Pahoa Village is a quaint little town on the southeastern side of The Big Island of Hawaii. This is in the lush, green Puna region of the island, where there are fewer tourist traps and more of the “old” Hawaii of yesteryear. Pahoa has wooden sidewalks and storefronts dating back 100 years, and is a town time seems to have forgotten. Tourists are delighted with Pahoa's fine restaurants, including Thai, Mexican, Chinese and Tuscany Italian... some of the best on the island! There are funky little shops and restaurants, a Sunday farmer's market featuring live music and fresh local fruits and vegetables. And Pahoa is home to the Akebono Theater, which is the oldest in the state! The village of Pahoa is situated in the middle of some of the most beautiful, tropical surroundings, near Kehena Beach which has snorkeling, swimming, surfing and beachcombing. There are lots of unbelievably beautiful crystal clear tide pools to explore and a thermal “hot” pond along with the free black sand beaches open to the public. Pahoa makes a great Hawaiian getaway, far from the crowds, yet within easy reach of attractions such as Lava Trees State Monument Park, the city of Hilo and a scenic drive to the Kailua-Kona area on the other side of the island. The big island is not that big. From our inn you can go around the entire island in one full day. You can snow board on the mountain and go caving in Hilo . go to pahoa soak in theraputic hot ponds. snorkel. Enjoy black sand beaches in pahoa all this and so much more on the big.island. "Island Paradise Inn" is an excellent central location to make home base for your visit. Car is the best way to get around. Although we are in the heart of town. Laundry mat across the street. Post office a few buildings over. 711 right by us. Restaurants all around us. Olympic stretch. free village pool caddy corner from us. Even the popular lava museum is just a couple of blocks down the road. And so on. For all this you can walk but to go to the lava flows and sites. Black sands beach and hot ponds. you need a car. A community laundromat is available across the street. The pool is an Olympic-sized community pool nearby.
