Kalapana Seaview Estates is In Puna on the Big Island of Hawaii. Puna is known for it's lush tropical beauty. Puna means Springs, so there are many springs, wells, pools and most notably warm springs and ponds in the area. The weather here on the coast is sunnier than most parts of Puna. There are no street lights which makes the night sky incredible. The subdivision was created after a lava flow in 1955 covered the area. it was bulldozed and streets made. Slowly the neighborhood grew with very eclectic houses. There is even a castle in the front. The entrance is along the coastal highway with miles of beautiful ocean at a crescent shaped grassy, coconut palm studded lawn. The people of the neighborhood maintain the parks and events. There is Belly Acres,Space and the Hiccup Circus at the top of the subdivision. Jugglers come there from all over the world. There are events every weekend at the crescent shaped entrance., and gatherings and volley ball at the upper park. At the cliffs you can watch the sunrise and in season whales. Part of the year you can view the sunrise and the sunset. A local man, Earnesto, sells fresh fruit, vegetable and flowers at great prices, every Saturday at the front of neighborhood. The beautiful black sand beach Kehena is walking distance. Attend Uncle Roberts famous Wednesday market with live music. Watch the ocean and sunsets on the "Lawn". The people in the neighborhood are friendly and diverse. Spend time in Pahoa a charming old cowboy town, part of old town USA now a famous travelers destination with a variety of restaurants and a kava bar only 12 miles. or go to Hilo voted the best little city in the USA 30 miles away. Agriculture, perma -culture, yoga, healing, music, art, science. and many other activities take place here but most prominent here is the Aloha spirit. Walking, bicycling, the Bus, rental cars and boats are all valid ways of getting around. A bus comes to the front of the subdivision morning and evening. Rental cars are good. You can rent bicycles to ride to the lava flow or rent a boat or a seat on a boat to view the lava. Kehena beach and Kalani Retreat Center are less than a mile away. The Aloha Broadband at the house Is Great internet service. Cell phones except At&T(which sometimes doesn't) don't work for phone calls at the property. Text usually does. Cell phones work at the front of the subdivision on the "Lawn" where there are mailboxes, a Bus Stop and a bulletin board. Neighborhood events take place there. There is a fruit and vegetable stand on the main road of the subdivision near the front every Saturday. There is a fully equipped kitchen. There a convenience store 6 miles near Uncle Roberts.
